  • Overloading 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Q - how do you determine when the car's overloaded - it's not easy to weigh a car. Also in the event of an accident or breakdown, would an insurance company refuse to pay out if they suspected a car was loaded over the limit?
  • Ford Kuga powershift problem - Faulty repair 20 Sep 2021 (Forum)
A neighbour had the car repaired at a specialist a few weeks ago, £700 less than a ford dealer quote, and as i drove to bring her home, I said get shut of after. They were given a 1 year warranty. It failed last week and was taken away on a breakdown truck.
  • Which recovery organisation 7 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Last year I negotiated it down but am somewhat fed up of this (e.g. personal cover quoted instead of car cover) The AA give a much better price. However, Green Flag are even better. Not sure of Green Flag merits, e.g fleet and mechanics ( as averages etc I know it depends on individuals) I would welcome hearing the collective wisdom on the quality and service provided by breakdown organisations.
  • Would you change flat tyre yourself on motorway? 22 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Have never experienced this on a motoraway, or any trip, and wondered what people would recommend. I can imagine it's a terrifyig experience jacking up a car next to three lanes of passing traffic. Would you call your breakdown service or try it yourself?
  • X Type Vs Volvo S60 19 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Probably looking to buy a used (6-18 month) version of a Jag X type 2.5 or 3.0 SE or Volvo S60 2.0 or 2.4 T. Auto preferred, petrol not diesel. I have done a bit of research and looked at HJ's car breakdown, however, would any experienced back roomers have any personal opinions on which to go for? I'd be grateful to hear your comments - as critical as you like. Thanks.

  • Is the extended warranty worth it? 10 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I rang my Mitsubishi dealer today and they quoted me £636 to extend the manufacturers warranty for 12 months (this includes breakdown cover). Do you think this is worth it? I am thinking of selling the car within the next 9 months or so - would having a manufaturers warranty make a big difference to the money I might get for it (I estimate it is worth around £5500)?
  • Subaru Legacy - Owner Experience 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just read HJ CBC Breakdown on this model and, in theory, seems quite a good bet as a used 3 year old buy. The 4WD and low range would be useful for occasional towing plus estate car practicality. Do any of the BR community own one, or know of one, and if so what has their experience been.

  • Honda FR-V 3+3 MPV (2004 - 2009) - FR-V auto - torque converter or I-Shift 5 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone confirm the type of gearbox in the FR-V automatic, HJ's car by car breakdown says torque converter and its O.K, the Parkers review says it's an automated manual and avoid. Are there any owners here to recommend or warn me off? This car seems to suit an automatic because of the seating layout and the tricky handbrake although I've only driven a manual so far.
