Ford Focus Mk2 - Cabin air intake vents 4 Feb 2023 (Forum)
So, I started searching Youtube to see what people recommended. They were suggesting looking for smells in the a/c or fuel leaks or oil leaks in the engine bay (it does have an oil leak so this is my best guess) but what I can't understand is why any fumes from the engine bay would end up in the cabin. It seems bizarre to me that we can be so worried about exhaust fumes in the environment affecting people's breathing and yet accept the fact that fumes from the engine bay can end up in the cabin of a car. -
Honda Civic 2001 1.4i ES - Air con / spare wheel help please 28 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Someone has said I may as well get a normal sized wheel, but I'm thinking that they will be far heavier (uses more fuel) and one probably won't fit properly in the wheel well. Thoughts please? Many thanks in advance for any help you can give. -
Seat Ibiza 2008 (2006 build) - 100,000 miles - advice very much appreciated notable to gas.. 25 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Fast forward to now, I just drove 20+ hours to Sweden from the UK. After 6 hours of driving ( with half a tank of fuel), both amber lights appear on my dashboard, and I'm unable to accelerate. The engine didn't cut off as I have a new battery/alternator belt. I had to pull over and restart my engine, which fixes the problem and I'm off again. -
Mazda 6 Tourer - Battery Charging in Situ with i-Eloop 14 Sep 2021 (Forum)
With working from home now almost entirely full time, my annual mileage has plummeted to such that I am only half way through my third tank of fuel this year. Naturally this has not been entirely optimal with keeping the battery in tip top shape. To date I have had to remove the battery from the car once the start stop system stops working (this apparently happens once the battery drops below 65% charge) and charging it with my CTEK CT5 battery charger. -
Take me back 23 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I want a straightforward engine and running gear that anyone can fix rather than a monstrosity that’s a write-off if it coughs. It would need fuel injection for reliability and it would need a bit more power for the weight but no more than adequate is needed for road use. What’s the point of 200bhp plus on the crowded roads we drive to work and back? -
Volvo XC90 2008 - 44k engine blown - Mapfre Warranty not paying 14 Dec 2020 (Forum)
The T&Cs they quote are under GENERAL EXCLUSIONS: 14e - lack of coolant, lubricant or hydraulic fluids 14g - ingress of foreign matter into fuel, lubricants or cooling system I am at a loss as to what to do. -
Opel Omega 2.0 8v - Engine Performance Problem 13 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Sometimes while idling when i touch the gas pedal, little bit of popping sounds, then rpm goes up. Fuel consumption is kinda high. Idle is little bit wavy. From researches i did, this problems might cause MAF sensor failure. But i asked some mechanics, some say spark plugs and wires, some say ignition coil, one said MAF sensor fault. -
Is there extremely reliable used car under 10k gbp 8 Dec 2020 (Forum)
my other concern is Car to have great or extremely good rust protection, and i would love to have at least distronic so automatic cruise control i love manual gearbox, since automatic gear box are slugish but if there isnt any other option i would accept it also i dont think i will be able to pay for more than 200hp taxes fuel consumption so its very limited options, about diesel vs petrol dillemma i dont know if there is a decent , recent diesel which can last forever compared to old ones so i do think petrol is more reliable.. -
Most Reliable Hatchback For Under 5k? 23 Sep 2020 (Forum)
I used to do just about all the maintenance on the cars I had. I'm thinking to avoid diesel cars. I just want something that is reliable and not bad on fuel, I'm not bothered how fast it is, but I'm guessing it needs to be at least 100 BHP. I'm thinking of a Honda Civic, same shape as the FN2, Hyundai I30, Kia Ceed or possibly a Focus. Not sure I fancy a Vauxhall or anything French or Nissan (used to be great cars, wouldn't have one now). -
Mk1 Ford Focus - Ford Focus starting issues 4 Dec 2019 (Forum)
I suspect it was left inside the garage for the few days it was in, sheltered from the cold. They suggested adding some fuel cleaner and running it for a week or so and repeating. The next day it struggled to start as per, so i booked it in to have the glow plugs changed. All went well after the repair and the car fired up with no issues. -
Mazda 6 diesel - Mistake, or not? 1 Aug 2019 (Forum)
He tends to hang onto his cars until way beyond the point where they're worth much, previous example being an 8 year old 2.2 petrol Vectra which had about 65k on the clock and which developed a fuel problem that nobody could get to the bottom of without spending more money than the the car was worth. So he traded it in for scrappage on the Mazda. He's not bothered about depreciation because he'll keep it for years; as above, he always does keep his cars for years. -
Corsa D - Lack of power/chugging/ 21 Jun 2019 (Forum)
The problems have developed over the past week (in order) 1. The car will jutter (like it’s injecting fuel and then not) at low throttle but any constant speed, perhaps like its about to lose power, but then doesn’t… 2. When idle/neutral it will start to chug and slightly shake (not always), and then sometimes lose power and cut. -
Mazda 6 - Mazda 6 2.5 - thoughts? 20 May 2019 (Forum)
Cons Higher road tax, insurance and servicing costs About 5 mpg lower fuel economy compared to the 2.0 model (31 vs 36 mpg) Harsher ride and comfort? What are peoples thoughts on the 2.5 engine? Is it worth going for (because of the higher running costs), or would it be more sensible to stick with the 2.0 Petrol engine. -
BMW 3 Series F31 - Standard Diesel Vs Premium Diesel (Tescos Version) 29 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I have the B-Tool app for my 330d with a V-Link Bluetooth ODB2 adapter as out of curiosity wanted to see what goes on regarding regeneration as I always use additives in the diesel fuel so wanted to see if they actually work. I use the oilem hybrogen at the moment (have used Archoil and Hydra products to but not tested those through the app yet). I always use tesco diesel as its the cheapest near me so used this with the hybrogen. -
2009 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Diesel, 125bhp model - Issue with Power Loss 28 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Recently passed its MOT and had a full service at Ford with no faults whatsoever. No oil leaks, fuel leaks, coolant leaks and no split hoses whatsoever so I think whatever's causing the issue is mechanical and internal i.e EGR valve etc. Also recently had the turbo replaced so I suspect that could have caused an issue. -
BMW 120i Sport auto 2015 - Electrical glitches 24 Jan 2019 (Forum)
I started the car engine without issue but the instrument cluster was inoperative – no speedo/rev counter/fuel gauge/binnacle lighting. The headlights/tail lights worked ok but the indicators did not. After driving for 5 minutes the instrument cluster burst into life and everything (including the indicators) worked normally for the duration of the journey My initial thoughts were that the main car battery could be failing – I owned a 2009 BMW 320d prior to this and noted certain facilities (heated rear window/stop-start function/radio when engine off etc.) began to stop working before I replaced the battery. -
Peugeot 308 - Anti pollution 8 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Hi guys I have a Peugeot 308 that showing up the engine management light most of the time , when this warning comes up it will also show me on the screen that anti pollution Faulty, after this warning comes up it will take like a heck up and straight away the car dies and lose all power and stop, so i have to parck it safely and try to start it again, it's dangerous and almost caused me to crash, the diagnostic showed the EGR valves are faulty at the garage , the recovery services diagnostic didn't show it at all and the car cuts off and behaves like there is no fuel in the car at all even it's half full, I did try to tap on the catalytic converter just incase it's clocked and it may solve the issue, I am not experience with this kind of faults , some mechanics said replacing EGR valves will solve the problem some said tap on the catalytic converter, but all agreed that they never heard of the car cut off completely and die when these warnings show of on the screen , basically no one gave me a final answer and they only guessing , if there is anyone who seen and fixed such a thing like my case please tell me where is the problem and what it need to be fixed. -

You could sense the issue was coming as the car would start to jerk when coming to a stop in the days prior to it cutting out. Took it to a mechanic and no specific faults were showing. We had the fuel pump and camshaft sensor replaced as per the advice of the mechanic. The car ran wonderfully for 1.5-2 months and then all of a sudden today, it's cut out again when coming to a stop. -
Honda Fit 2006 - Honda Jazz problem ?EGR valve 19 May 2017 (Forum)
The mechanic has now said he does 't know what the problem is and to wait until it gets worse, which may help them work out what is causing it. My fuel consumption has also gotten worse. Reading on here i have seen some threads talk about an EGR (i hope i got the correct!) valve thT can stick. Does this sound like it may be the problem or does anyone have any other suggestions on what the problem may be?
