Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - is my warranty valid if my car missed a service? 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Two weeks ago i bought a 55 plate 1.6 tdci ford focus that had covered 29,000 miles, from a small independent dealer who told me the car is under ford warranty until november, when the car is three years old. I booked the car into my local ford rapid fit centre for a major service a week after buying it, i was told by the by them that doing this will keep my warranty evven though the car is missing a stamp in its service history. -

Honda Legend 2.7 12 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Does anyone know if this is a common fault on Legends and is the rust under the cover likely to extend as far back as the windscreen base? I will probably pass on this car but will probably continue to look for a Legend coupe so any hints appreciated. David -

VW Golf mk5 - Repairing scratches 7 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I’m looking at my first car I’ve found a good deal on a 2007 golf mk5 with 70k miles the car is only £1200 as there is deep scratches down the right hand side of the car. I know having these professionally repaired would be very expensive but I don’t care about how the outside of the car looks would I be able to stop the car from rusting by covering the scratches up with ductape and a few layers of clear coat? -
Free Car Legal Expenses Insurance 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Received a letter from Shell Visa (changing from Royal Bank to Citi Bank) in August time. Part of new Offering to Shell Card Holders is Free Car Legal Cover - I pay nearly £20 for each car so this represents £40 saving - not a lot in running a car but a "fill-up for nothing" beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I have no connection with Shell/RBS/Citi other than being a customer -
I have to buy a car for my job 23 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I am changing jobs and will no longer be provided with a company car. I will need to provide my own car, and expect to cover about 30K-35K per year. Can anyone advise me as to the best way to source and finance a reliable medium sized (eg Mondeo) car. I cannot afford to buy one for cash. -
Is this fair? 9 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Hi all. I'm after a bit of advice so please be gentle with me. Yesterday I took my wies car to work to give it a 'blast' on the motorway. I was stopped by police who say I was doing 84mph for 0.15 metres, which cant be right as I never exceeded 80mph and the tomtom said 78. My wife's car is insured under commercial cover - her dad buys and sells cars but she is a named driver on the policy. -
Renault Megane Coupe - Coolant heater 27 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I’ve had it plugged into a Renault diagnostic laptop which is flagging up ‘secondary coolant heater’, but I’m not convinced it has one. Has anyone got access to a wiring diagram for the car? The Haynes manual doesn’t cover this engine. -

Peugeot 208 - Gap/Return to Invoice Insurance 26 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hi, everyone. Next week I'm changing my car and want to take out RTI cover. Does anyone have experience of buying this type of policy online and if so are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of? Thanks for any advice in advance. -
Who details their engine bay? 13 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Anyone bother doing this? I keep mine clean just by wiping the hoses, plastic covers and engine block down with a damp cloth. No spraying or engine degreaser. But I suppose since I've hardly ever used the car (6000 miles on it), there wouldn't ever be too much dirt in there anyway. -
I had an `engine` dream last night 2 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I was looking into an engine bay. There was a small modern petrol engine, with modern covers and so on, but space all round the engine with every DIY item being accessible. Does this exist? (Triggered I think by watching an old film featuring period cars.) -

"Gap Insurance" 17 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Gap Insurance (to cover difference between value of car in event of loss and price paid new) seems to be a good idea. However, as with all insurance, I want to shop around for best deal but do not know where to start! Please can other Backroomers give me the benefit of their experience...names of specialists would be appreciated. -
KIA Sorento - Kia Sorento 2015 automatic transmission problem 5 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Other than that, the car is nice and priced low. It’s done around 30 000miles. I'm in real dilema should I go for it or look for another one? The sales person stressed that any mechanical issue with the gear box would still be covered by the balance of the 7-year Kia warranty. -
Alhambra 2ltr TD Ecomotive 2013 - Seat Turbo Failure 20 Aug 2019 (Forum)
This is despite it happening weeks after the fix; the car has only covered 83k miles. Interestingly, they intimated that if the car had been serviced within the dealer network they would have made a goodwill contribution. I know of one other Alhambra owner - similar age/mileage and same model - who has had exactly the same failure in similar circumstances also within weeks of the emissions fix update. -

Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 2005 1.6 snapped rear axle 17 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi My son has just had an accident in his 55 reg ford focus caused by the rear axle snapping and he ended up in a ditch Can anyone tell me if there are any known faults with rear axles on ford focus cars I am not sure of the model all I do know is it is on a 55 plate and he's only had it a couple of months. One of the problems we have is the insurance company are only covering the damage NOT the cause He does have a mechanical warranty on it so not sure if he is covered by that yet as it only happened last Friday evening.
