  • Catalysers 11 Jun 2002 (Forum)
We've just bought a Honda Civic, 1995, which is our first catalysed car. Am I correct in thinking that you shouldn't drive through water deep enough to make contact with the cat. as the thermal shock could crack the ceramic core? (I did try the search facility but couldn't find any details) Any advice welcomed. Many thanks, P.
  • Got the Pirellis 29 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Haven't driven far yet but they do appear to be quieter than the previous Dunlops. Can't really comment on grip etc, but then I don't drive with much urgency. Thanks again for the advice on an earlier thread. Regards Pat
  • Turbo Question Please. 22 Mar 2002 (Forum)
On reading my car manual, it says that after a period of high speed driving or climbing up a steep incline, you need to sit at idle for a maximum of two minutes before switching off the engine. I know this has something to do with the turbo, but why do we need to do that?
  • A Valentine Jeep 14 Feb 2002 (Forum)
After hearing about this extravagant gift, a friend of his said, "Wait a minute, I thought you told me before that she wanted one of those sporty four-wheel-drive vehicles?" "Well she did," he replied... "But just where the hell was I going to find a fake Jeep?!"

  • Motoring on Playstation 28 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I'm getting (albeit belatedly) a Playstation for the kids, and was wondering which car racing games the backroomers would suggest. Of course I'll have to fully test drive anything before they're allowed out on the road. :o) Thanks, Stu.
  • Audi S3 & TT wheels falling off 29 Sep 2001 (Forum)
There have been 6 S3's and TT's affected so far. If you have one of these, phone your dealer and get them to collect it, don't drive it. Lower radius arm snaps and the wheel folds in. Can happen at any speed. That's the S3 off my list then......
  • noisy xm 16 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I had a noise coming from the front of my xm and thought it was the wheel bearings on the way out ,so of I trotted to my local xm man who took the car for a test drive then into the workshop. He returned with a clum look and I thought expensive.Cost zero the fault was the large split pins were rattlingon the bearing caps. Its a good job he is honest.

  • Fiat 500e - KIRI coins 15 Jan 2024 (Forum)
They're a crypto currency the Fiat App gives you for driving responsible.  I now have thousands of them.  The idea is you can exchange them for goods .  But reality is you get a discount for stuff that you'd likely never buy anyway. Pity they don't offer money off servicing or tyres etc.
  • medical - old drivers 25 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Not mentioned before from elsewhere The findings were published in a consultation asking drivers to submit evidence considering whether driving licence renewals could be changed. Although the DVLA doesn't list any specific proposals, they are asking motorists to submit their ideas before October 22. This can be done through the DVLA's  Snap Survey  tool or posted to their headquarters in Swansea.
