Advice on a future used car purchase 31 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I like the sound of buying an old reliable brand and not being hit by depreciation, but as my car skills stretch to topping up oil and washer fluid, it may be risky/false economy compared with buying a Toyota thats still under warranty. I like the look of having a reliable 3 year old 1.6 petrol Auris thats still under warranty - anything under 120BHP seems like it will be too sluggish for a car that size. -
Peugeot 5008 - Broken injector holders after new injectors 31 Aug 2019 (Forum)
He said that perhaps somehow the internal compression of the engine is getting too high. I asked if they used the right injector for my car and he confirmed that they use the part that is suggested by Peugeot. He seemed to be knowledgeable on that to me. Now my question to you guys, anybody has seen such an issue before? -
Audi A3 Sportback - Low diesel MPG - is it me or the car? 11 Apr 2011 (Forum)
There seem to be lots of MPG comparisons, but not many offering technical solutions to things which might be wrong with the car. Should I be going into a garage and asking them if there's something wrong with my car? Its under warranty so I want to rule out any technical probs in the next 2 months. On my previous car - a 58 plate 1.8 petrol Honda civic , I used to get 38MPG regularly, last month - up to 44MPG in the summer time. -
Sat Nav problem 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
As far as I'm concerned the car is faulty"and that BMW should pay for the software to be upgraded... On the basis that new versions of software are constantly being released to "bug fix" potential faults, wouldn't you expect a BMW approved used car to be at the latest software level when you buy it? -
Going Nuts? 19 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, Just looking for some advice & comments. SWMBO & I have decided to replace the ol' Xantia with a new car, and we don't want to spend more than 7k. On a new car. Yes, I know I can get a used Alfa GTV for that sort of money and probably a very nice new-ish Xantia, but we're both sold on the idea of a 52 plate and a 3 year warranty. -
Vauxhall Astra - £11000 for 2017 Astra? 18 Sep 2020 (Forum)

Ford S-MAX - Need to buy an MPV. High mileage? 18 Sep 2012 (Forum)
A bonus is the back seats can be used, albeit tightly, by an adult. 2. Ford S-Max Titanium 2.0 turbo diesel, 09 plate, 100,000 miles, around £9,000 - slightly more expensive to run but not to bad, no warranty but ful service history as ex-lease. -
FIAT Punto Evo - Remote key fob battery only lasting 3 weeks 24 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Car is 8 months old. After 6 months of ownership the key fob battery needed replacing. Now the batteries (CR2032) are only lasting 2-3 weeks before they discharge. I'm using Panasonics, not Poundland ones. -
Old cars and the environment. 11 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Now that manufacturers are offering paint warranties lasting twelve years there's really no need to scrap at ten - unless you fall for the "look what he's got on his driveway" con which suits the manufacturers just fine. Cheers Chris -

Hyundai ix20 - Tyre Pressure monitoring valves 4 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Three miles later I get a flat tyre, took wheel to tyre specialist who said tyre was fine , failure was TPM valve. took to deslership ( Car is 9 mths old with 3800 miles only). Point bank refusal to consider warranty claim!!!!!!!!! Service manager said failure was caused by me using too "rigid" an inflator when checking tyre thus exerting uneven pressure on the valve stem and breaking it. -
HDi 90 rough & poor economy 11 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hi all. My 406 HDi 90 (02, 90k) has recently developed the following symptoms. I will take the car back to the dealer as it is still under warranty, but they are particularly useless (still trying to fix the satnav cd drive) so I'd like some suggestions about what the problem could be. (i) A rattling noise. -
Scenic II Oil change 30 Aug 2005 (Forum)
After reading various threads on here and other forums, reckon I should get the oil changed just now, 12000 miles, as the car is used for a lot of stop / start journeys. Now my technical knowledge could be written on the back of a grain of rice! I have read the sticky oil thread but a couple of questions. 1. Manual says use 10W40 or 10W50. -

Hyundai ix35 - Hyundai ix35 fuel filter issues in cold weather 24 Jan 2019 (Forum)

Citroen Xsara Picasso - rear seat belt 29 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I have just purchased my 2nd Picasso, a 2008 plate, I have noticed when I went to strap one of my children in one of the rear belts, it locked after a few inches then released and locked again until eventually I could pull enough of the belt out to strap my child in, when I unstrap the belt it retracted easily, if I pull the seat belt out slowly it doesn't lock up as much, but surely it shouldn't keep locking and releasing under normal operation, my only concern is the mechanism is faulty, or could this get better on more use, also is there anything I can spray on the belt to help making not lock up, I have 3 months warranty on my car..Thanks for any help. -
Vaux Zafira stalls after motorway stints 30 May 2007 (Forum)
It seems to happen after revving at over 4000 rpm, e.g. after doing 80mph for a few minutes or tackling a really steep long hill. When you slow down, e.g. approaching a junction, the car starts to judder when you're coasting or driving normally. When you engage the clutch, the revs die all the way and it stalls. It usually re-starts, but very reluctantly, just using the ignition key.
