Honda FR-V 3+3 MPV (2004 - 2009) - FR-V auto - torque converter or I-Shift 5 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone confirm the type of gearbox in the FR-V automatic, HJ's car by car breakdown says torque converter and its O.K, the Parkers review says it's an automated manual and avoid. Are there any owners here to recommend or warn me off? This car seems to suit an automatic because of the seating layout and the tricky handbrake although I've only driven a manual so far. -

Insurance anomaly. 8 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I have recently exchanged the Kia Magentis V6 manual (which will be a good buy for somebody) for a Hyundai Sonata V6 automatic. Now these are very similar cars, and I thought I might get a little off the insurance for changing to automatic. Not so, I have been asked for some more money. It occurred to me to look up the insurance groupings for a possible explanation, and I found that the Magentis is group 15 and the Sonata Group 14! -

can you stall an auto? 3 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Just curious on this one, is it possible to stall an automatic? I suppose not, as the torque convertor takes up the role of an automatic clutch. I ask this because several times I have forgotten to release the parking brake and drove off, I wonder if it really works! -
YET ANOTHER VIRUS. 27 Nov 2001 (Forum)
it does not require the email receiver to open the attachment for it to execute. it uses a known vulnerability in Internet Explorer-based email clients (Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express) to automatically execute the file attachment. this is also known as Automatic Execution of Embedded MIME type. the way that i got rid of it was through www.antivirus.com and i used the free tools, then just click on the free scan. -
Cars with automatic gearboxes - ...fuel costs up, time to teach 'pulse and glide'? 18 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Hypermilers in the USA with their ubiquitous automatics have long been familiar with this technique which I have used for many years. Here is an extract from one of their forums dated June 2008.... Here is a little tid bit on a technique that was taught to me while I was in the military (ARMY) for all of 14 years. -

Main consideration in selection are: a) Safety (most important - euro ncap 5) b) Low insurance (4-6 group / 1.4-1.6 engine) since I have held a license for only a few months c) Automatic (mainly for city driving) d) Approx 3 yr old / 30K / from a network dealer for 5K but can go up to 7K Based on these we short-listed Ford-Fusion but then realized that boot space was too small to hold pram. -

Honest John questions 30 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Gob smacked at the advice What is the best automatic diesel car for taxi use please? Skoda Superb. Great value for money, practical and cheap to run. Also consider a Vauxhall Insignia or, if you'd prefer something a bit smaller, a Honda Civic. Awful advice The trade has avoided the superb due to the cheese made automatic and higher price and parts compared to the Rapid and Octavia The trade has avoided the Vauxhall Insignia is a complete dog The trade has avoided the Honda Civic as it’s not big enough and the estate is rare and expensive There have been quite a few bits of bad advice but this one is particularly bad -
