• Volvo S60 Clicking 22 May 2005 (Forum)
  My newly acquired 87k mile Volvo S60 is making a clicking noise when turning/cornering to the left. It seems to be speed related. the noise comes from the front underside and a feint vibration can be felt through the steering in time with the clicking.

  Can anyone help? I have a 1988 Volvo Automatic 2.3 Estate which has been with my mechanic (who I have known for over 30 years) since the beginning of February because it keeps stalling. He has done everything to get it running including change two petrol pumps, renewed the distributor and wiring etc.

  I cannot remember what the fix was - this is going back to about 1974. I've now come across an aquaintance who has the same problem with a Volvo 740 (petrol engined too). Any ideas please.

  Hi gang - been toying with the idea of replacing the old Tardis and popped in to the new Volvo dealer nearby. They are waiting for a px'd 945? se turbo estate with fvsh up to Nov. last year (service overdue therefore). Can't find any reference to a 945 model designation anywhere so don't know if this is just a mistake on their paperwork.

  I know this subject has done the rounds and I've read Longhurst's oil bible but sensible comments will be apreciated. I have recently been asked to take care of a 1989 Volvo 740 with the B200E engine, genuine 98K on the clock. Three owners, the middle one used it as a school bus on 5K/year. For the last oil change they used VW Synta 10/40 semi-synthetic. If I use fully synthetic oils will it be OK or am I best leaving it at semi-syn.The owners would like another 100K/13 yrs out of it.

  If I purchased a private warranty and went to a Volvo independent service garage, would the indie be able to service properly, i.e. software updates etc. I am sure someone on the forum would have encountered this dilemma previously. Also finding an independent Volvo agent is proving tricky in Mid-Kent.

  An elderly neighbour has a 4 year old Volvo S60 Diesel, due to illness the car is rarely used. I have been driving it weekly to try and keep the battery charged, however  in recent weeks  even after a 25 mile main road drive when I stop the car & switch off the ignition I notice the dashboard display message " LOW BATTERY !".

  The engine occasionally misfires which can be followed by engine shut-down,all dashboard lights blazing and no power steering or brake servo.After pulling over and waiting for a few minutes engine can be re-started to resume journey as if nothing had happened! My local Volvo garage is unable to find the problem so have gone to a Bosch service centre.Despite their best efforts,a replacement electronic diesel pump and new crank sensor the problem persists. The car has travelled over 122,000 miles ,has been Volvo maintained regularly and otherwise goes well.

  Good evening ladies and gentlespoons, I've been offered a mint-looking (I've only seen photos!) 95 'M' Volvo 940 2.3 SE Turbo. It has 184k miles but I'm not sure about service history. The seller assures me that everything has been done when it should have been. When I say mint-looking, I mean mint-looking.

  Looking for a decent estate car for a trip to Denmark and back in October. Been looking at spendingg upto £3500 for a Volvo T5, Volvo 960 3.0 24v, Merc 300TE, BMW Series Tourer, Scorpio Ultima (dont laugh...ther missus likes'em!) but nothing really stands oput and what are the pros and cons. But have also been tempted to keep my money in the bank and spend less than a grand on an old 760 2.3 turbo estate (Trust the Volvo engine miore than the 2.9 Renault thing) or a Granada Scorpio Estate or even an older 300TE.

  My dilemma is that I have a 94 L Volvo 850 T-5 saloon which has been given to me to dispose of. It has done 82k miles and is in relatively good condition. It also has a full Volvo SH.
