• MINI Convertible - clutch failure 1 Apr 2013 (Forum)
  Bought a Mini 1 convertible from new  Clutch and flywheel failed catastrophically after 11300 miles but within the three year warranty. Mini maintain that this is is not a technical fault but due to my driving style. Difficult to understand given that I have had over 500000 miles of motoring experience and never had to replace a clutch!

  I'm thinking of buying a camper van and want to know if you can drink alcohol when not driving and stationary. Say for example i was parked in a lay-by on a public road and decided to stay the night and had a few beers. Could the police charge me with under the influencce while in charge of the vehicle?

  hi my 2.0 dti when you start first thing in morning there is loads of gre/ white smoke and it misfires like mad and also i have no throttle for a few seconds then throttle comes back when driving there is a little smoke , iv got broken glowplug but it seems more than that

  30 odd in the urban setting, 37 or 38 on longer runs, never better than 38 For a DIESEL! From one who was getting 50 plus overall, from the same driving mix, from der Skoda. A pleasent  car with good access & seating and also deceptively fast, imho.

  The engine cut out while driving up hill and will not start. There are no fault codes and I have limited live data. Can anyone help me with either a possible cure or a wiring diagram. I would guess at the crank position sensor but I hate guessing .

  After driving for about 15 miles or 15 minuets my gearbox will change up and down without any imput from myself or any change in road conditions,this will sometimes right itself after about 5 minuets .Its a low milage 1997 car to good to sc*** for something silly.

  Be very careful these cold frosty mornings if you are in the habit of starting your car on the drive to warm up,and then go back in to finish your breakfast.My neighbours Golf went walkabout at 8am today and has probably being broken up (leather seats,alloys etc).I guess the insurance will decline to pay,keys left in car,running,unattended etc.

  I was waiting for a coach to negotiate a sharp bend earlier, and the driver waved as she came by, smiling and calling out of the window "There'll be three more of us along in a second!". She seemed to be hugely enjoying the drive. The others came along straight after. They were all being driven by women. Is this unusual? What sex are most coach drivers?

  Not only had he been caught speeding on 5 separate occasions (in passenger vehicles), but he had also been disciplined for tampering with a speed limiter! How he was still allowed to drive a coach, I have no idea.
