Hi,
Am looking for a bit of advice please. I am after a second car and have about £6k to spend. As I already have a family car for the misses and the sprog then this is to be my toy so I am after something that will good fun to drive, but I still need something that is quite reliable.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks

Usual form here is to suggest a 2.0 Focus and then sit back while others wheel out their personal favourites. So add a 1960s Land Rover, a late-90s BMW 3 and a 1992 Saab 900 Turbo to the list.

Old shape Audi S2. Get the Avant if you want a real sleeper. 240 bhp and 4x4 can't be wrong.

if 'good fun' is 'terror':
* Impreza Turbo
* Audi S4
* BMW M3 Evo
if 'good fun' is comfortable cruising with power
* Merc E320
* Merc SL500
if 'good fun' is quirkiness & agility
* Lotus Elan
* mark 1/2 golf GTi
All fun in diferent ways! Definitely 'quite' reliable too, as in 'not totally'!! Have fun.

As this will be your toy, you could consider a coupe. Some good ones in your budget. Perhaps a Toyota Celica or Hyundai Coupe. My choice would be a Pug 406 coupe .......... but not certain about the reliable tag here.

Get a 2 seater open top car.... MX5, MGF.... SLK....
Completely different type of motoring... get a sunny day and a country lane and you will always have a smile on your face.
I'm on my 3rd......

Whatever kind of Japanese sportscar takes your fancy.. MX-5, Celica, FTO, they are all pretty good in their own way. If you need 'practicality' then an Impreza Wagon should do the trick...

Thanks for all the advice. I have been looking at the Japanese cars as I have owned Nissans in the past and the relaibility and build quality has impressed me. There is a place near where I live that sells cars that have been imported from Japan. Looking on thier website it looks like for the money I have they have some fairly good choices. Is there anything I should be worried about by buying an imported used car?
Thanks.
