  • Subaru Legacy/Outback - grey importing 21 Mar 2016 (Forum)
because it seems too good to be true, and i suspect our tax gatherers, who need to keep the country solvent'ish for as long as possible..:-) well at least until all the referendum(s) are over, would soon be on this.
  • Citroen Relay - Van Smoking Heavily! Please help 19 May 2015 (Forum)
1- Could it be a duff injector/s overfueling? but then why the blueish tinge? The Ohms reading accross the injectors are the same, However, upon unplugging the No3 Injector (whilst the van is still misfiring) the engine tone remains unchanged.
  • Ford Focus Mk1.5 - Leak dilema 18 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I have an 03 plate Focus which has a pretty severe [rain] water ingress problem. Water is entering far up in the n/s/f passenger footwell (under the dashboard). When I say entering, I really mean it, as the carpets and under felt are soaked along the nearside. I replaced the pollen filter scuttle panel and seal, and sealed it up with sealant (I should add that we have another Focus which I have sealed in this way which is dry as a bone inside).
  • Volvo XC90 - credit car hire- solicitors and court problems 19 Jan 2013 (Forum)
My car was written off. a couple of days later the police released my caravan which i had to collect from their compound in S wales. My insurance company could only provide small coutesy car and only when mine was recovered to their accident centre, I obtained insurance details of the 3rd part from the police and contacted his insurer AXA.
  • Use of fogs - question replied to by Honest John 16 Jan 2013 (Forum)
When it's raining, approaching a car with its front fog lights on can dazzle you, but the effect is far worse coming up behind a car with its rear fog(s) on, even when it's dry - at worst, you can be nearly blinded, especially if your windscreen hasn't been cleaned for a while, and/or you have a heated windscreen with its fine wire element showing (until recently basically Fords, soon to be more widespread I believe).
  • Mazda 6 - 06 plate 2.0 TS - Mazda 6 - DPF help :( 27 Apr 2012 (Forum)
mazda agree with this and will cover the charges for parts and labour wahoooo :), HOWEVER mazda think that seeing as the car has only done 20k since the last new DPF they  think its a problem with injectors which cost about £600+ each and there are 4 of them little b*****s!! Has anyone had a similar experience with having to replace the injectors?? Can anyone tell me if mazda are just trying to get some money out of me because they are doing the dpf for free?
  • Car for commuting 13 Jan 2012 (Forum)
The mpg is best on the country roads and the computer rarely dips below 50 and often shows a lot more but as soon as I hit traffic then it drops into the 40's and in stop-start it's terrible. I'm getting just over 50mpg overall (real world not the computer) but with long journeys at the weekend too I'm doing 350+ miles a weeks so any savings would be useful.
  • Citroen C4 Coupe (2005) - Citroen C4 2005 - Known Issue? 19 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Is there anything I can argue with the dealers to get this cost reduced?  I have seen many people with clutch issues in C4's so am wondering if it is a design fault that they should go so early?  I dont know too much about mechanics so what would cause the deformed finger in the first place?  Any advice and help you can give would be most appreciated.
  • Nissan Micra (2003) - Misfiring on start up 25 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Any suggestions would be great as i can not afford to pay out about £500 to change timing chain and it not cure the problem, someone did also say it may be the on board computer which again cost £100's. Sorry a bit all over the place here new to this. The car when i start it has to be rev straight away to catch it otherwise the accelaration pedal goes dead then i run risk of flooding the thing.
  • Chrysler Voyager 2,5 td 1996 VM engine - how do I mesure temperature sensor voyager 2.5 td 22 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Now after changed the fuel filter alot of air got trapped in the circuit ,and after bledding the circuit the car starts to crank everytime it´s on idle but if I disconnect the temp sensor goes fine, the boost problem still remais. with the sensor connected starts to boost until 2000rpm and the losses the strenght, with the sensor disconected, does not give much acelaration and nothing happend at 2000 I noticied that the turbo starts to spin after 2000 but without much power.
  • Ford focus 02 1.6 Zetec - Loosing power steering fluid after MOT 10 Jul 2010 (Forum)
A quick glace at the road underneath the car revealed a rapidly growing pink puddle of power steering fluid.   Having paid the MOT garage for some ford P/S fluid, (MC2 195-A, £20 a bottle, if you're wondering) I've filled it up and run it for a few minutes and the poorly sounding pump sounds a lot happier.     However, when the engine is running, the fluid leaks with 1 drip every second or so from underneath the engine on the drivers side somewhere.
  • Planting a fruit tree - happy result? 5 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Plumes of spray went 20ft into the air (I used to weight train as a teenager) - then drifted on the wind to peoples bed sheets and other washing 300 yards away. "I`m itching a bit tonight Ethel, but the bedbugs seem strangely subdued" That`s the thing with apples, hard work. And when you know what goes onto them to get that gleaming perfect fruit, you would rather not bother, let them fall off the tree corrupted and unsprayed, for the birds in winter.Surprising how they can clear 50lbs of apples laying on the lawn in November.

  • Done 2000 miles in my car now 24 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I also find my engine perfect for my needs, as its 65bhp on a light weight car and it can also do 45-50mpg quite easily as well as offering very cheap insurance. Its very rare to find a 16v late 90's supermini which is also cheaper to insure than slower 8vs. In the mean time I have been spending a bit of money on my other hobbies, HIFI and photography (photography costs is my excuse to visit different cities!).
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 Overheating - now problems 27 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Can anyone offer any insight here before I go wasting money replacing random parts? I?m looking for a cheapish fix if possible! Also (it?s a digital dash display for temp) why didn?t my gauge show the car was overheating! The cooling fan works fine, but he gauge never goes above normal. Car: 53 plate 1.4 duratec 110k miles. DIY serviced oil and filter every 6k.
  • Minor Bump, Major Incident 3 May 2009 (Forum)
To cut a long story short, the bomberos are called to cut the roof off. All Astra occupants must have apparently suffered '£££whiplash£££'s' So, a minor bump has turned into a major incident costing thousands, not to mention the delays to hundreds of other motorists just because 3 persons are thinking that there might be lots of easy money at the end of the day.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Focus 20000 mile report 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
you can feel the extra surge. Great for overtaking. Great gearchange and clutch, brilliant steering and handling. A driver?s treat. But it achieves this by still offering a good supple ride. Comfortable seats with a good range of adjustments. Well assembled ? no rattles or squeaks. Quickclear screen ? great in the recent frosty weather.
  • Engines - big and lazy or small and highly-strung? 29 Dec 2008 (Forum)
At RTJ70's suggestion, let's not confuse a general, though interesting, issue with Oldgit's original question specific to the VW Golf 1.4 TSI. The more general issue - which some people have commented on already in the other thread - is "is there a risk of early failure in a small, highly tuned and (presumably) highly-stressed engine like the VAG 1.4 TSI, as compared to a bigger, less stressed engine?"
  • Citroen C4 Picasso 5-st (2007 - ) - Seduced by Picasso 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I had a C4 hatchback before the Saab and was very pleased with it, so.....why am I waking up in a cold sweat each day? I have read the reviews about it not being as sharp to drive as the S-Max or the Scenic, but I am 52 and not driving in a F1 race. I have read mixed reviews on the EGS, but I am comfy with it.....I got the hang of it within minutes. Maybe I can report back in a few weeks or a month?
