  Hi All, My alfa 147 is starting to pack itself (damn thing is eating up the suspension components for lunch), so am starting to look at buying another motorway horse to lug me around. I really miss the feel of driving an FR car, so the only default seems to be a BMW 320D as they seem to be under £3k for an 06' plate. Problem is I have never owned a BMW before and know sod all about their reliability. Anybody have any other suggestions? On a real tight budget :O

  I used to have a mk1 tdci which was brilliant and another focus would be great - this time a petrol. But I've always wanted to own a BMW but don't know how it compares to the focus. Both cars are about £1300 and 100k miles. The BMW would be more costly to run and maintain but I only plan to keep it for about a year. What I'm more interested in is which car is the better to drive, around town and for long distance cruising.

  I need to change the rear discs and pads on my wifes BMW 320D. I have a caliper rewind tool somewhere but can't find it. Can the pistons just be pushed back in or do they have to be wound in? If they can be just pushed I used to use a G clamp and a small block of wood.

  I booked my BMW X4 in for a service this week and they told me it is part of the recent major recall of over 330,000 BMW's. They can't get the car in for over two months due to the huge number of cars that need recall work, this means that the service will fall outside of the recommended mileage and time.

  The front nearside tyre on my 2009 520d shows more wear on the outside edge that the offside tyre and on the MOT test last week, Cooper BMW described the nearside tyre as poor and the offside tyre as fair. The depth of tread varies from 2mm on the outer edge to 4mm on the inner edge.  What is the cause of this and is it worth swapping these tyres round?

  Just about to change full set of tyres on 2006 BMW 325i M sport for 2nd time. Original & replacement, 4 years ago, Bridgestone Potenza and each time around 27k miles. Now Michelin available so any views on Bridgestone v Michelins please. Ride quality, mileage etc.

  I have a problem with blocked screenwashers on my BMW. The dealer tells me that the fluid had turned to jelly and that this is a problem with Halfords fluid. They say that it will not be covered by warranty and since the reservoir is concealed in the wheel-arch it will be quite a job to clear it.
