    There are now three problem areas with Toyota Carina Es, all of which have been acknowledged by Toyota with extended warranties. They are lambda sensor, power steering rack and throttle butterfly. See car by car breakdown. If you have one of these cars make sure the remedial work is done before the warranty runs out. (Too late for 99% in the case of the throttle butterfuly.) HJ

    Have just renewed the Comp ins on my 2.0l Accord, including business use and high miles - £294. Green Flag cover for absolutely everything, home start, recovery of any car etc etc including the wife and her car - £99. -esure, run by th eex-direct line chap, Peter Woods - nearest was £480 for both with less breakdown cover.

    Couldn't help thinking about the breakdown on the M25 thread when I read about the 3 women who were killed on the M25 yesterday. Apparently their car stopped in the middle lane (broke down ??) and 3 of the 4 female occupants got out only to be hit by a van and killed.

    HJ says, in his CBC breakdown "Plastic fuel filler pipe between cap and tank can develop hairline cracks leading to petrol fumes entering the cabin when the tank pressurises". Are there any other causes of (strong) petrol smells in these cars (2.0 ecotec hatchback)?

    Remembering with a friend a few of the liitle things that used to make us smile when cars came in for fixing.   The lady, recovered by the breakdown services after filling the engine with water instead of the windscreen washer bottle, the actor who was trying to describe a fan blade using hand movements (hilarious)and the egntleman who lost his sump plug and was stopping every now and then to add engine oil.
