  • Best mpg achieved 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I got 64mpg in my focus 115 tdci on a 60 mile A road journey doing 60-70mph. The official combined mpg for my car is 51 - I don't know what it is for A road driving.
  • Car rental - expired British photocard licence 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I'm going to the US and haven't got time to renew my photocard licence before I go. The photocard expires in 3 days. My driving entitlement listed on the back is still valid for a few decades more however. Think this will cause problems?

  • No roundabouts 17 May 2009 (Forum)
I believe it is now possible to enter the country at Folkestone ( via Eurotunnel) and drive all the way to Berwick upon Tweed without going round a roundabout. The route is M20, M25, M11, A14 and of course the A1. The last roundabout has finally been removed at Colsterworth just south of Grantham.
  • Radial-engined racing car 27 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Trawling the web looking for information on aircraft radial engines, I came across the link below -a very neat installation of a nine-cylinder radial, and a rather early example of front wheel drive. (Lots of leg room by the look of it!) Any ideas on the horsepower? P. http://tinyurl.com/c52a3j
  • What is the steepest road in Britain. 17 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I was driving around the Caterham area today and the sat-nav took me up a hill so steep I felt like I the car was going to fall off the side of the earth. This got me wondering what the steepest section of road was in the UK.
  • The frisky professions 5 Feb 2009 (Forum)
A piece on p. 6 of today's Telegraph says lawyers are among the social categories most likely to be banned from driving for motoring offences. Others are doctors, vicars and, harrumph, police officers. Do take it easy in all the ice and snow, what with the temptation to warm the cockles a bit from time to time, chaps, won't you?

  • Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - Yaris 1.0L vs 1.3L 26 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi Is there any noticeable difference between the drive in a 1.0L Yaris and a 1.3L Yaris? I read a report about the Sirion where the reviewer felt it was better to go for the 1.0L as there wasn't enough difference between the specs of the engines. Thanks.
  • Plastic licences 5 Oct 2008 (Forum)
My question is "How many backroomers carry their plastic licences together with the paper Counterpart driving licence"? as it is advised that the two parts should be kept together in a safe place. I look forward to your replies. Hoseman

  • 3 wheeled motorbikes 30 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Over the last 6 months I seem to be seeing more and more 3 wheeled motobikes, whilst they look like fun,but what is the advantage for the driver, they can't overtake quickly, surely the benefits of being on 2 wheels, I'm sure they are very costly -and why are their drivers able to drive around without helmets

The worlds lowest car only 19 inches high. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/7380706.stm Looks like fun to drive -provided other car uses spot you down this low. I lot of drivers cannot spot even a bus these days
  • Diesel - The greatest question in the Universe 4 Apr 2008 (Forum)

  • Did you ever have a worm and nut? 29 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I think I can remember a series of cars relatives had with this, or similar steering when I was a kid. Six Inches play in an Austin A40 (Or was that A60) Cambridge. Did your `Auntie Ethel` also drive down the road `sawing` at the steering? Regards
