Daytime Running Lights 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
It's definately going to happen I think. I agree, it's another step towards removal of human decision-making. I usually turn mine on on twisty country... -
Volvo 850 GLT 20 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Was looking at a 1996 automatic volvo 850 GLT. When i started it up the engine was running fine. The 'lamba' light on the dashboard was on. Does this mean it is time to replace the sensor or is the sensor faulty. have been told that after so many miles the light comes on to say service it or replace it. -
Golf Mk3 Ignition info 25 Oct 2006 (Forum)
All is now rectified, but take heed, it seems, if your Golf 3 is 9+ years old the engine will not start or run without a working CI sensor. -
Rover 414 Cuts out 31 Aug 2006 (Forum)
If you tap the accelerator the revs dip, and if you press it enough it will stall. Leaving the engine running for a while, or turning off and re-starting it straight away, doesn't cure it. It needs to be left off for a minute or two before restarting and then it's fine - will revv up and drive off. When it is not playing silly beggars it runs well. -
Vectra 2.0Di Turbo hose blew off. 3 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone know if these to faults are linked in anyway and do you think that there may be a further fault that blew the turbo hose off. It was quite oily by the EGR but always has been, and it has been running fine up to that point. thanks, Carl -
tempted to drive into car in front 21 Jun 2006 (Forum)
i was wondering where does one stand if someone cuts you up and slams his brakes on. since he has taken up your braking distance you would probably run into him. who is at fault? -

Bright ideas please 3.5T van 3 Nov 2004 (Forum)
P junior rides for a KIDS motorcycle display team and we cart all the gear (Jump ramps, bikes, spares) around in a 7.5t IVECO, trouble is this is rapidly approaching the end of its useful life and becoming v expensive to run Repairs/Insurance/Diesel etc etc, plus its not very popular on the driving rota ! Therefore we have thought about downsizing to a 3.5t van which if we make the Mums and Dads tow the larger bikes should be plenty large enough and hopefully cheaper to run, easier to find and a bit more popular to drive - Mums too. -
Poss. electrical fault with M Reg Astra 3 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Got to our destination and halfway back when the airbag light came on as before, temp & fuel gauges re-set. Bit further down the road the engine warning light flickered on and off and the engine started to run a bit roughly - however this was all for only a few seconds and car started running perfectly normally again, but the airbag light stayed on and fuel & temp gauges were still on zero. Any suggestions before I pop to the garage for another huge bill. -

Insurance groups + which car? 11 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Yaris seemed a bit cramped, and comments on the ride in the Jazz puts me off. Any other ideas? I'm happy to buy up to 1 year old - but need to keep the running costs low. Any help appreciated. -
Question to Passat owners about... 2 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I've had it checked by VW who say there is no problem, but I'm not convinced since I had a temp gauge problem which according to them did not exist but I changed the temp sensor and the problem is sorted. VW also told me to expect between 26-30mpg around town, is that accurate? On a run from London to Luton I averaged 33mpg on the short run computer reading, but the long term readings increased my mpg from 22 to 23. I wonder if the mpg I am getting is normal or could there be a fault somewhere? -

Vauxhall Vectra Diesel overheating 7 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi folks, please help, I am really puzzled. About 4 weeks ago my 2.0DI Vectra started running hot, gradually it got worse, until it eventually was undriveable. I checked for mixing of fluids etc but seamed ok, I replaced the stat, but no joy. But any hint of a hill or acceleration it would get really hot. -
Intermittent ABS fault 26 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Further to Peter D thread of 2Aug02, I also have a 1995 VW golf GTI 8v with an intermittent ABS problem. I purchased the car at 3 years old having been previously run by an office colleague as a lease company car.The problem will only manifist itself in one way. The ABS warning lamp illuminates after driving for 40 minutes for no apparent reason and at the same time the ABS pump starts running. -
Fiesta rs turbo problems 11 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Hi, i have just bought a fiesta rs turbo and it was running fine till the other day. i was sitting on the carriageway and it started to give a misfire when i put my foot down. i got it home and left it over night. now if i start it up it runs for about 2 minutes then just cuts out .... if i drive it, and put my foot down to quickly i get a bad misfire and the car seems to kick back. if i am gentle with the pedal i can get some boost off the turbo but if im too hasty it just shakes and kicks back. if i'm pullling away from junctions i have to give it high revs and pull away on the clutch or it stalls. i took it to a mechanic, he changed the fuel filter as it was full of dirt, and he said the pipe to it was kinked. i dont know where to start with it really so if anyone has any suggestions i would be reall grateful. someone suggested to me it could be the fuel pump? -
Mondeo Automatic - 2.0 or 2.5 9 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Anyway, come September I am handing it back to the HP company, having achieved 50% of the payments. I want to replace it with something a little smaller, hopefully cheaper to buy and run, but with the luxuries like leather etc. I have become used to. The Volvo is a manual, but I'd like to switch to an auto. Anyway, should I go for a 2.0 or 2.5 Ghia X Auto? Clearly, the 2.0 will be cheaper to insure and run, but is it underpowered with an auto box? -

Volvo 360 GLE MOT problem 5 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Also one of the rear shocks is leaking and there is play in one of the steering arms. I'd quite like to keep it as the car runs really well, has a/c factory fit, leather etc. and I've just spent about 200 on getting injectors/exhaust etc and the engine running really sweet again. The shocks and the steering I can fix, (do you reckon it needs a new rack or just a track end?)
