  • Audi S4 Avant - APCOA Airport Parking Southampton car damaged 9 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Hi All I parked my pride and joy in the covered section of the short term car park at Southampton Airport. On my return to my horror someone had driven into the drivers side damaging both rear and drivers door down to bare metal. The height indicated a 4 x 4 and the colour was white!
  • Lincoln - Town Car update 5 Jan 2013 (Forum)
When I went out of town one day, I set the cruise control at 55, stuck a Mantovani CD in the player and settled back for a bump-free ride.  (Now I'm very much a rock 'n roll guy, but in this car only the most relaxing elevator music seems appropriate...Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Henry Mancini, Sixties bossa nova.  Frank Chacksfield?)  Very nice.  Since buying this car I've added an OEM set of floormats in a matching, tasteful shade of taupe, and a matching dash cover.
  • Ford Focus - Insurance claim - named driver 4 Mar 2011 (Forum)
She has her own car which is fully comp. She phoned up her insurance company and asked if she can claim as she is fully comp she would be covered 3rd party to repair the other persons car. They asked if she was on my insurance and as she is a named driver they said she had to claim via my insurance.
  • Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - Uneven wear on rear tyres 25 Sep 2009 (Forum)
A similar thing happened to me with the C5 that I once had but, luckily, I found out about it whilst the car was covered by the warranty.
  • Daihatsu Sirion (1998 - 2005) - A month gone now 30 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. On March the 29th I went to the Daihatsu dealer to look at getting a PX price for my car against a new Sirion. I was told that the price of the car was to rise by £1000 in the next 2 days (correct info) and to save on the deal I would have to move fast. I was given a good deal on PX and told I had to get a cover note for the new car within 24 hrs (of which I did) I was given my new Registration number and a pre delivery letter saying that the car would be ready for collection on March 31st.
  • Garages and servicing schedules 14 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Should a garage keep a record of what was done during past services on indivdual cars, much the same way that doctors and vets will do with their patients? I have to say, in addition, that the service schedule that comes with the C5 is a pig's ear of job, covering a multitude of different vehicles.
  • Another missed service question 6 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I suppose my question is should I take the car back for a refund (dealer have agreed to do this, they accept car was misrepresented) or accept what's happened and take a car which drives well with the increased warranty package? What are the possible problems I could run into in the future if I (as always) am meticulous about maintaining servicing from now on?
  • Volvo Owners Insurance - beware 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
TEN days of worry, no car, no replacement vehicle - their derisory offer of £100 in total for car rental was not taken up. Forget the 'simple call to a dedicated Volvo freephone number and we'll solve the problem...'. Try 14 telephone conversations with VOIS over ten days AND numerous other calls to police, Volvo dealer (whose interest diminished noticeably when the car was found) and the car recovery company depots.
  • New Car Import Services - HJ please read 19 Mar 2002 (Forum)
They talk of a new company that will handle the delivery etc. but I know for a fact that they have set up a new company with a slightly different name and I'm pretty sure that this is the company that will be handling the transaction, i.e. they are pulling a fast one. Please take this company off your places to buy an import car on your FAQ pages and warn anyone else off from dealing with this them (New Car Import Services Ltd) or their new company New-car-imports.com Ltd I don't know what I will do yet as I placed my deposit on a credit card cheque and will be covered for a full refund under the consumer credit act 1974 (although I suspect this could drag on a bit).

  • How realistic are official fuel consumption and CO2 figures for new cars? 22 Apr 2020 (Ask HJ)

  • Why is my diesel car emitting blue smoke upon starting up? 25 Nov 2017 (Ask HJ)
I have a 2007 Peugeot 207 1.6 HDI, with 83,000 clocked miles. Basically, the longer the car sits unused, the more blue smoke it puts out when it starts...
  • Mercedes-Benz SportCoupé Kompressor - Too Shiny For Me 19 Apr 2017 (Forum)
My protests that I knew nothing about new cars were brushed aside, since the car was "very old". Turned out to be a 15 year old dealer-maintained Mercedes-Benz C 230 (I think) SportCoupé Kompressor, and a bit of a looker, as was its owner.
