Suzuki Vitara - Suzuki Vitara steering not self centre 23 Jun 2024 (Forum)
Is this normal behaviour? Do I need to worry about? I search Internet and some recommend 4 wheel alignment for self centre problem. Shall I go to Suzuki dealer for this or independent garage? This is the first car and need some advices -
Volkswagen Golf 2.0TDI 2011 - Are my wheels sticking out too much? 19 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Now, I'm having about 20% worse MPG...!!! I have checked the wheel alignment in a professional shop with lasers and stuff, and checked all the brakes, they are not dragging. The MPG drop happened precisely after the wheel change, and I calculate using the pump figures and odometer, not the trip computer. -
Seat Leon 1.6 TDI 2015 - Busted wheel bearings after front shocks replaced 17 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Looking online it seems fairly uncommon for wheel bearings to need replacing, and there seems to be some conclusion about it potentially arising from bad shocks, or bad alignment. Should I fight back with the garage about this? -
Ford Fiesta - failed MOT questions 22 Jul 2017 (Forum)
The garage told me that after replacing the linkage, they would need to strip down and rebuild the entire suspension system and re align the steering too. WTF!! I was quoted an hour's labour when I thought mine had gone in March this year. (I also have a Fiesta). With a couple of hours labour, I make it about £250? Garage has quoted almost £800!! -
Why is the steering feel so poor on my Hyundai ix35? 12 Jul 2016 (Ask HJ)
I own a Hyundai ix35 1.7 Diesel. I've noticed that the steering doesn't has any feedback and appears overly sensitive. I have already been to my local... -
Volkswagen Golf III - No compression @ cyl1 & 4 after wp/cambelt change 2 Feb 2013 (Forum)
The car is a Golf MK3 1.6 ABU engine (year:93) What we have done: Drove the (working and functiong) car into the garage and turned it of. Aligned the markings on the camshaft and crankshaft. Replaced the old waterpump and cambelt with the new parts. (the wp works as the tensioner on this model) After putting everything back on the car starts with the gas pedal on 50-75% Everything should work but it doesn´t We have re-checked everything like 10-15 times and it should be working, cam/crank at its markings makes the no 1 cylinder to be on the upper offset and the cam on offset för cyl 1. -
Peugeot 106 1997 1.5 Diesel - Both driveshafts a bit loose. (newbie) 20 Sep 2012 (Forum)
How I came to look at the drive shaft, is that at 50mph the whole car would shake quite bad...it wasn't coming through the steering. I did the usual, wheel balancing, and home made alignment with 2 jacks and a piece of string (again Youtube...it's taught me all I know tbh :) ) The car sits low at the back, probably needs 2 shocks, and the passenger side rear wheel is starting to bend inwards, which is because of a rubber on the axle on the back. -
Ford Focus - Seeking tyre recommendations please! 24 May 2011 (Forum)
Which of the Continentals would you buy, if any, or what else do you suggest? Plus is it worth buying wheel alignment? Also, I was going to order them from blackcircles.com, but please let me know if you have any other recommendations! Many thanks in advance for your advice. -
1988 Vauxhall Astra diesel. - 1988 Vauxhall Astra diesel pump replacement. 9 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The problem that I have is that I have never worked on a Vauxhall/Bedford diesel before and am working on memory from Ford diesel vehicles of the same type of period. I tend to remember that after aligning the timing marks on the pump sprocket and timing cover which I have done, I need to set the pistons at TDC before engaging in any further dismantlement of the pump. On the Ford models there is a screw plug where one can insert a pin in order to turn the engine until TDC is attained. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 03 2.0 3rd gear syncro "weak" 18 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I'll have a chat with them tomorrow but would like to know a bit more about what I'm talking about.... A quick 'tinternet serach provides links to mis-aligned gear linkages, dragging clutches and top-up of clutch hydraulic/gearbox fluid. TIA. -
BMW - Abnormal tyre wear & cracked wheels {Read Only] 5 Nov 2009 (Forum)
The front tyres still had 50% of their original depth over 85-90% of the surface. The dealer told me I would need a 'KDS alignment' to sort this which cost nearly £300. 14k miles later again scrubbed all 4 inside edges, again the dealer told me a 'KDS allignment' would solve this. He appeared shocked when told the car had already had one. -
Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.2 Cambelt snapped. Error made fitting new one 18 Aug 2009 (Forum)
so a weekend late ri removed the head a second time and yes found 4 bent valves! how did this happen i wonder? before i refit all is the correct procedure to align top and bottom timing marks, put on bottom pully/crank ,lock the flywheel, then tighten the pully crank bolt ,then put on cambelt? alline top on camshaft sprocket, then turn engine by hand with socket on camshaft and then just hope for the best? -
Child accident rates/lollipop persons 7 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Could this be the reason for the high accident and death rate. I have heard that if the clocks were aligned to Europe it would save x childrens lives. I expect we are different to satisfy some minority interest - dairy farmers in the north of Scotland perhaps?- but few things can be more important than children's lives. -
Pothole damage, KDS's what next 6 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I then had the tyresafe compound removed which also improved the handle, but again there was still something not quite right. Two weeks ago the car was KDS's again, they re-aligned the steering again and I did not really notice any difference. The steering feels very light and is also very sensitive to the road service in that it follows the road camber considerably. On braking around corners the car steering pulls against you. -
Wheel bearing - "play" whats acceptable? 22 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Since getting the car I've: Had the balancing checked more times than I care to remember Swapped wheels front to back Run on a replacement set of wheels/tyres for a few days Had the front & rear suspension bushes checked for wear So far all ok - no fault found. It was suggested to have a full four wheel alignment - I had this done with only minor corrections made - however they did comment that there was a "some" play in both front wheel bearings. On asking what "some" was - the answer was "not enough to worry about". -
2009 Piaggio Porter-petrol smell+starting problem 28 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Tried a few times with the same result. As the ignition was coming on I assumed something out of alignment with starter motor. So sitting in the drivers seat with the door open, I pushed it back (in gear) with one leg (helpful that it doesn't weigh much) and the other pushing the clutch pedal down and then let the clutch out after a couple of meters. -
Vauxhall Corsa - Bought a used car and had it delivered. 21 Nov 2021 (Forum)
I know I was silly for buying without trying but did seem like a well maintained/looked after car on paper. I'm guessing the first thing I should be doing is getting it checked on a 4 wheel alignment however I dont have the cash spare at the moment and will need to wait a week to get paid but I'm concerned that waiting this long will cause me issues If i needed to take it back to the dealer as they might then try to pin it on me where as having it checked the next day after being delivered would be a lot harder to argue against the issue being present on delivery. -
Used car buying advice - trader working from home 16 Nov 2021 (Forum)
If I'd turned up at a dealership I'd feel super comfortable about the sale, the car looks in great condition, drives great, and although it's not the cheapest deal in the world the price offered aligns with valuations from HPI/Parkers. I'm just a little cautious about his setup selling from his drive (although also sympathetic since I am also work for myself from home!). -
Windscreen replacement on a modern car 15 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Where it gets a bit murky though, is that for this method to work properly, apparently the tyre pressures and wheel alignment need to be spot on, and the car needs to be on a smooth flat and level surface. Could be tricky to do this on your drive then?. May not be a huge issue to forum members, many of whom seem to regard such systems with scorn and mistrust, but for the type of driver who relies heavily on the tech, not having the re-calibration done properly, could result in accidents. -
Nissan Juke 2015 - Heads up for Nissan Juke owners 2 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Cant use ebay (none there anyway) or scrapyard due to warranty, but the problem is caused by either poor routing/alignment of pipes or the lack of a rubber spacer between the pipes costing pence. It's staggering that given age of the car, which I accept is about to be replaced by a new model, has such a fault.
