• VW Touran - Loss of power 26 Jul 2011 (Forum)
  Driving along tonight in my Touran 1.9TDI Touran 2005 it appeared to judder in every gear, lose power and on accelating past 2k revs black smoke and a loud whirring sound could be heard. Any thought before I have the local garage look at it?

  An example of stupidity of the highest order: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8540223/Driver-was-on-two-mobile-phones-and-steering-with-knees.html The driver was uninsured and driving with his knees at 70mph on a dual carriageway, with a mobile phone in each hand.  If ever there was a deserving Darwin award winner, he really could have been it!

  I have a nissan micra V reg and it has two fan/drive belts can anyone tall me what they do one goes round the alternator but I'm unsure whate the other is for as it has a timming chain as far as I know for timing

  My father was driving his 414 this morning and it just died on him  His fan belt came off, and car turns over but no compression!! can anybody shed any light on this problem? Have told him could be cambelt but that seems to be in one piece??

  This might seem like a silly question but it is driving me mad. I replaced the original wiper blades with new ones last year. My windscreen wipers squeak quite loudly only when the windscreen is wet, they do not squeak when the screen is dry.

  I'm thinking of buying a satnav, can any one make a suitable suggestion. Mainly UK driving, with odd trips to France and NW Europe. Price, around £150.00. Where would the best place to buy one. E-bay or other similar sites? Many thanks for any help offered.

  Can anyone offer advice (apart from morale impeachment) or information on the consequences and probable court sanctions from getting caught driving at 120 mph on a French motorway? I paid an on the spot of Euro 750, had my licence confiscated and received a summons to appear before Bernay magistartes in October. Thanks.

  i was driving to work yesterday when i got an `emmisions workshop`appear on the displayand then a yellow engine light lit, according to the handbook it`s the lambda sensor which is faulty, where is it & is it easy to change?

  Is it ok for the cooling fan to cut in when slowing down (say at the round about), after a high speed drive in the motorway (in these cooler months)? After a few minutes of stopping it cuts out automatically.

  Does anyone know of a UK based forum for Legacy/Outbacks. Scoobynet seems to be mainly for yoof driving ridiculously modded Imprezzas and I am a little to old nad/or sedate for that sort of thing.

  Have had the engine management replaced recently, but have noticed that the car is now a little sluggish, and it seems to jump as I am driving. The garage has said that the cat seems to be alright. Any clues.

  Reading the thread below concerning plenty of like minded fools driving with little or no lights on in fog/rain etc. One poster got me thinking -- why exactly have car makers got rid of the dim-dip system that used to be so popular in the mid 80s and early 90s?

  My boot lid is not closing. Warning light switched on whilst i was driving. Tried closing the boot manually did not work. Any suggestions? {Volume lowered - ie, amended the SHOUTING!}

  id=4999 Another bit of bizarre research! How was the saving measured and is it worth having, if it exists? I think driving forwards into a space, if one can, has got to be better than juggling backwards and forwards.

  I have found that there is quite a lot of water getting into the passenger footwell, probably not when driving but when parked in the rain. Has anyone any idea what could cause this and how to fix it?
