Huge Nearly New BMW Auctions This Week 13 Aug 2006 (News)
The big auction news is that BCA Nottingham will be holding an open ‘Super Sale’ of up to 235 cars on Thursday 17th August, from 10.00am. Vintage Bentley reborn after being unearthed in London house 4 Sep 2015 (News)
The remains of a 1928 Bentley 4½ litre have been pieced back together after they were unearthed in a house in the middle of London. Parts of the car, which features Victor Broom Drophead coachwork, were strewn throughout the owner’s house. Now, the car has been fully rebuilt by Bentley specialist William Medcalf. Medcalf explains, ‘About a year ago, a very nice lady called and said her father has passed away and that he had a couple of old cars in his house, one of which was a Bentley.’ William headed to the house near Kew Gardens and as soon as he arrived he began to spot bits of the car spread throughout the house. -

£2.9m for Ex-Works Racing Aston 29 Jun 2015 (News)
An ex-Works Racing Aston Martin sold for £2.9m at Bonhams’ Festival of Speed sale on Friday, 26 June. The sale price of the Ulster Team Car LM19 is one of the highest amounts ever achieved for a pre-war British sports car. It smashed the existing record (which was also held by Bonhams) for a pre-war Aston Martin. In total, the Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed sale made £17m. -

Bearing in mind that the scrappage scheme provided a fixed £2000 discount off a brand new car, such figures make depressing reading. Many of the new cars that were bought via scrappage would have been eligible for heavy discounting anyway, at a time when manufacturers and dealers were struggling to ‘shift metal’. -

Frederic Bennett Nash in Barons Classic Auction 27 Feb 2009 (News)
He and two colleagues drove three Cadillacs to Brooklands, completed a set number of miles and then returned to the dealership. Once at the dealer, the three cars were completely stripped, all the parts shuffled and the cars rebuilt. They all ran perfectly, an achievement for which Cadillac became the first American manufacturer to win the Dewar Trophy. -

From the thousands of responses Peugeot received, 83.1% said they would want car manufacturers to stick to the traditional car handbook rather than see it transferred online, and stressed the importance of having it handy in their vehicles. “What we found most interesting about our handbook survey is that our customers learnt the most about the features of their car they didn’t know they had, from its handbook. 79% indicated that had they not read their handbook, these features would have gone unnoticed,” said Andy Bye, Director – Quality at Peugeot. -
