Hi  Just been told its running on three cylinders is that  the glow plug thats not working or is it more than this its diesel there are no signs of overheating or moisture in the oil so I'm sure theres no leaking head or other gaskits. • Tide turning back in favour of diesel? 26 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I notice the price of diesel cars has dropped significantly. Not only has the premium on list price been wiped out but many are now cheaper than the petrol equivalent. Especially 1-2 yr old models. Granted these are not Euro 6. But at this age you get the benefit of warranty, mpg and torque AND pay less.

  • Hyundai Getz - Hyundai Getz: any opinions? 10 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Are these reliable little cars? Looking for a cheap runabout, not bothered about styling or equipment levels. I've seen a 2006 Getz with low mileage (50k) for £1.3k. I seem to remember the old Hyundais had a 10yr warranty, or something like that.
  • Toyota Avensis - Still Covered by Manufacturers Warranty? 1 Jun 2016 (Forum)
From a warranty point of view, will Toyota still cover it, as technically it has missed the 2nd interval?? Car is 4 years old and has been serviced at dealership since.   Thanks.

  • AUDI TT 2.0 LITRE PETROL ROADSTER 2009 REG - When does the cam belt need changing? 30 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I have been advised by the Audi Dealership that the cam belt needs changing after 5 years old - the car has covered approximately 23000 miles, mainly short journeys around town.
  • proton - Why have Proton failed to get established? 7 May 2013 (Forum)
Do they import themselves or do they have an agent acting on their behalf? I presume their cars are generally reliable? The old stuff use to be bagged Mitsubishi's and ran forever. Not so sure on the latest offerings?
  • Fresh Air 1 Feb 2012 (Forum)
In the good old days (1980s) I used to drive Vauxhalls and the centre face vent was connected to the outside air. I could have toasty warm feet, demisted windscreen and cold air to breathe and keep me awake. Climate control, air con etc are all wonderful and I would not be without them but why is there no new car that can give fresh, external air, when the heaters etc are on?
  • Citroen xsara 1998 1.4 - Scary Steering Problem 6 Jun 2011 (Forum)

  • BMW 1-Series E82 coupe (2008 - ) - Ultra Low Mileage Coupe 10 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Have seen a 1' series coupe for sale at a BMW dealer,ex central BMW stock,9 months old but with just 300 miles on the clock.does this mean the car has been stuck in a compound for 6-7 months in all weather, hence the low mileage?.
  • Is cow saliva corrosive? 7 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Was stationary in a herd of Fresians a few weeks back. End of Old Coal Pit lane (A5270) near Buxton. The usual gentle jostling and occasionally worried that an elderly cow was going to end up on the bonnet. A few beasts licked the car and now am amazed that it seems to have damaged the paintwork.
  • Best time to buy? 30 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I am currently looking around to buy my next car. Would it be better to buy now as dealers will want to clear old stock before part ex's arrive with the coming plate change or wait a few weeks and try and pick up a part ex traded in for a new plate?
  • James May - light, fast, economical challenge 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Anyone got any suggestions for a new engine + old bodyshell challenge? I reckon a Renault Supercinq 1.7 Monaco with a 1.5 dCi engine, chipped to 120ish bhp, would do the job nicely. Does anyone fancy building one? I can't find a Monaco but I have found a suitable looking GTX as a donor car.
  • driving habits 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
call me old fashioned if you must, but there`s a growing number of drivers not bothering to indicate their intentions, especially at roundabouts. not so bad when i`m in my car, but when i`m in my lorry i can`t pull away sharpish when some clown leaves his right hand indicator on when exiting a roundabout.

  • Toyota Corolla (1992 - 1997) - 1995 1331cc - Immobiliser query 19 Jan 2008 (Forum)
The lady I bought it off told me that the immobiliser does not work. I need to fit a new battery to the vehicle. My concern is if I disconnect the old battery will the immobiliser 'kick in' and then will I be unable to start the car?
  • Renault Laguna III -Bit disappointing to look at? 10 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I have been looking at the new Laguna as a possible replacement. I am sure it's a far better car than the old model in many ways but it looks a bit dull. Ugly even. Maybe it will grow on me. Not sure the 1.5dCi engine will be a good match - the 2.0dCi would be my choice. Anyone else seen it yet?
