Taking out a learner 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
My brother has bought a car but has not yet passed his test. He has insured the car on a provisional basis. I have been driving for almost 4 years. Can i take him out in it (he will be driving) on learner plates on the insurance he has got? or do i have to be insured on that car as well? -
Polo Auto keeps cutting out 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Wife has a R reg VW Polo automatic, once in a while when driving slowly or coming to a stop the engine would cut out. For the last two days it has been happening quite regulary, even when driving 5mph in traffic. It was serviced a month ago. Could it be the automatic gears or is it a battery fault. -

Limited slip diffs -- worth it? 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone have experience of using a car with and without a limited slip differential? Question is asked with a view to using an LSD-equipped car (front-drive 75-25 split) in moderate snow conditions as an alternative to a four-wheel-drive. The package in question also gives a 30mm lift to about 190mm ground clearance and Michelin Synchrone tyres. -
TDdi vs TDci 3 May 2006 (Forum)
I'm considering purchasing a Tddi, however, it's cheap from one of these supermarkets and I can't actually test-drive it. It's in mint condition, but how different to drive will it be to Mum's 05 TDci 130 Mondeo Ghia? Will it be louder and rattle more? Obviously it'll be a bit slower, being 15bhp down, but I was more concerned with mechanical refinement... -
Golf '96 Glowplug light flashing 18 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Does anybody have any idea as to what the possible reasons might be? Is it dangerous to continue to drive it? I've just been for a drive now but it didn't flash, it seems to be intermittent. Thanks in advance. -
Am I sitting comfortably ? 14 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I've always set my driving position along the lines suggested here :- http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/cd/docs_dandt/research/ergonomics/biw/docs/driving_position_guide.pdf but having done two 250+ mile drives in the last two days, I found myself feeling incredbly tense around the shoulders. -
Nissan Micra 1.0 (P) stops when hot 28 Jun 2005 (Forum)
My Micra will start and drive normally for around a mile then cuts out. The engine does not seize up. The plugs look normal and smell of petrol. The starter turns the engine well, but it will not start unless left for an hour or so, then it will start perfectly and drive for another mile ... -

Seat Arosa Exhaust Warning Lamp 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The exhaust emissions warning lamp has occasionally stayed illuminated for a full day's driving on my 6 month old Seat Arosa 1.0. The car drives just as well as before. Does anyone know what exactly the waraning lamp means and is a visit to the dealer service department really urgently required as stated in the manual. -

Focus Clutch Bite-Point 29 Oct 2004 (Forum)
My wife has a 14 month old Focus which is a great car generally. However the one thing that annoys me when I drive it is the high point of engagement of the clutch, compared to most other card I drive. I know the focus (1.6 Zetec) has a hydro clutch, but is it possible to adjust this bite-point at all ? -

Golf GTi Rev Limit 5 Sep 2004 (Forum)
I have just bought a Golf GTi and gave it a good drive on the test drive and everything seemed to check out OK with a FVSH. The only thing was on the way home I put my foot down and the rev limit kicked in at 5,000 RPM (Red line about 6,100). Does anyone know why? -

GM 2.2TiD Cambelts (again!) 30 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Sorry folks, I know it's been covered before but....has my 2.2 TiD SAAB definitely got a chain driven cam? If so, does the drive belt and tensioners referred to in the service manual mean that belt that drives the alternator etc. or is just that SAAB can't be bothered to modify the service manual for its diesel customers? -
The MG Mustang 27 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Ford America's 4.6 litre 260bhp V8, 0-60mph in 6.2 secs, top whack limited to 155mph and it's yours in entry-level trim for £27,995. And it's rear drive instead of front drive. Sounds like naughty fun to me... -

Cross countries 3 May 2003 (Forum)
In the States people are sometimes employed to drive vehicles from one place to another (e.g. coast to coast) on behalf of people that are relocating. Does anyone know if there's anything similar operating between Britain and Europe - i.e. for people over-wintering in Spain etc, who want their vehicle with them but don't fancy the long drive.
