TDdi vs TDci - y2k+4
I'm considering purchasing a Tddi, however, it's cheap from one of these supermarkets and I can't actually test-drive it. It's in mint condition, but how different to drive will it be to Mum's 05 TDci 130 Mondeo Ghia? Will it be louder and rattle more? Obviously it'll be a bit slower, being 15bhp down, but I was more concerned with mechanical refinement...

Upsolute will chip it to 145 BHP. My Dad´s considering this route with ´hie TDdi, which is loud and rattly.

No comparison, the TDCi is quiet smooth and powerfull, the TDDi is agricultural !

Yep, TDDi will be noiser and a little less punchy (I've driven both and have a 115 TDCi myself) - but everything has a price point, if the TDDi is *significantly* cheaper it may be right for you.

Further to this, I've read a few stories of complex TDCi problems that simply don't happen on a TDDi. I guess what they were trying to say was TDDi = simple, potentially less issues. TDCi = more complex, *possibly* more things to go wrong.

Personally, I'd go TDCi everytime, they are that good.

The TDDi is the older design i.e. not common rail. So potentially less to go wrong. But we should be looking forward, not back.

I'll leave it then, and continue saving for another year or so...once the Mondeo's on the scene, I'm sure the current one will begin to feel the effects pretty quick...and then I'll swoop in and grab a TDCi.

I'm not so sure older designs are always so simple, including older injection systems. Although I do believe new diesel injection systems can be super expensive.

Once I tried to understand the mathematics how a carb' worked, I got very bad headache.
