• audi a6 1.8t 1998 clutch/gearbox 27 Sep 2004 (Forum)
  when selecting first gear in my audi it doesnt always engage, i have to take foot off clutch then 2nd time it normally goes into first gear. is this a clutch or gearbox problem? apart fro this i have no other problems with selecting gears the car has done 130k miles by the way.

  I am miffed that the tyres on my S3 Audi Quattro are almost at the limit of legal tread depth after just 9000 miles from new in fourteen months. The rear end is worse than the front. Running on 225/45 R17 91Y Bridgestone Potenza RE 040. Definitely not happy to replace with these.

  Changed the front pads & discs on my late Audi 100 yesterday, and was astonished by the variation in wear. IIRC, new 10mm; replace at 2mm. Remaining material: Left inside 1mm Left outside 3mm Right inside 3mm Right outisde 5mm What should I deduce from this?

  My Audi Coupe just failed the MoT on worn front lower wishbone bushes. I've got some new bushes, but they look like a pig to fit. Has anyone out there had experience of doing this job, and do you have any helpful hints?

  When the engine is cool it idles perfectly at between 750-800rpm. Car has about 42K miles on the clock. I've been back to the garage several times and even Audi France took control of the calculator 'at distance' but have so far been unable to improve things. They apparently had trouble getting into the calculator for some reason. The garage even told me "there is no solution" but I don't believe that and I'm concerned that I am somehow damaging the car by using it like this.

  I have a brand new audi a6 Tdi Ultra and the oil servicing message presented itself at 9000 miles. I booked in to the local Audi dealers for an interim service. When I arrived they checked out the car and said it doesn't need it's first oil change until 18k ish.

  I have an Audi A4 2.0 tdi 58 plate (2008) standard uk spec. My engine management light came on and I've been told the code means I need a new G450 DPF Sensor. I'll have this fitted later in the week but what I would like to know is will the DPF just continue to get clogged up if I continue driving or will the normal burn off still occur if I am doing only motorway miles at high speed?

  Any ideas? I'd sooner get advice before setting off down the expensive fault finding process with Audi dealers(who are very unhelpful over the phone!) It's a bit weird so someone might of heard of same thing on similar VWs or skodas?? Cheers Sally

  Hi My v6 2005 a4 2.5tdi is vibrating on idle and it's really frustrating . I took it to an audi dealer and they plugged it in and said there wasn't a fault but something wasn't right but could take 5 hours to find at £125 an hour so thought I'd try getting some help on here to tell my local garage what to do?

  I reversed back to let another car get round a corner and the car I hit chose this moment to pull out behind me. The end result - a nice big dent in the other cars wing (an audi A6 I think) and some mindor damage to fixings on my bumper (I'll probably live with these). Anyway, we've agreed to sort it out between ourselves and He's gone off to get a quote. I'm not going to bother getting mine fixed, I should be able to snap it back into place.

  It also shudders intermittently at high speeds, and the brake pedal is very high, stiff and feels like the brakes aren't 'releasing' properly or are sticking when you put your foot on the accelerator. The garage has suggested another diagnostics check. Can anyone recommend an Audi specialist in the West London/Surrey area that may be more reasonably charged than an official Audi garage, or suggest any solution/fix to the problem? Thanks SLT

  I have noticied in past articles/reviews/books by HJ that on some VW/Audi cars, eg Audi A2, have poor MW/LW reception.   I am looking to replace my Saab convertible and am drawn to either a BMW 3 series coupe or an Audi A5. I would like to get an automatic. I know there are no real issues with BMW autos but I am unsure about the Audi. It seems some have the Multitronic gearbox and some the S-tronic. I understand that the S-tronic is the DSG box and the Multitronic a stepped CVT.

    What are his best options for repair:  do it on his own insurance?  Or leave it and let the Audi dealer sort it at the end of the hire period (November 2014), and bill him? If anyone has any experience either way, I'd be grateful.
