Audi A3 Sportback - Is this Audi A3 worth considering? - bazmcg

Hi all,

In the lookout for a diesel motor under £2000 that will last me a few years. I know this A3 has quite a few miles on it, but it looks clean and has a long MOT. If it was regularly serviced and looked after this could be a decent purchase, what do you think?

Never owned an a3, don't know much about them.

I'd suggest going and having a read of the car reviews section on here. The 2.0 TDi engine of that era, used in VW and Audi cars, was a bit of a dog, prone to fatal problems.

Do also bear in mind that the car does have 200,000 miles on it. As such, with that and the age, you should assume that it could die at any time, or fail to such an extent that it becomes scrap.

I think at that mileage, a full service history, not just a part service history would be essential. If you bought this car, you really would be gambling with the unknown. The A3 isn't a bad car, but as with all VAG products maintenance is key,so should really have a good service history provenance. If you dont buy this one, there are plenty about, or even more plentyful is the VW Golf, which with a good spec and FSH could fall well under your budget.
