Pirelli P6000s really that good? 9 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I used to have four Michelin Pilot Exalto which were fantastic - best tyres I\'ve ever used but they\'re now discontinued. Long story but old car got written off and new car (same as before, 99T Vectra 2.0 GLS) which I bought in March was fitted with brand new P6000s (195/65/15 VR), which I thought great because I\'ve heard people rave about them. -
Number plate styles 19 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Post 1973 classic cars - if you have just finished restoring, say, a 1974 Triumph TR6, do you have to use the new style lettering, which will look as much out of period as reflective plates on a Jowett Javelin. 3. Is it now illegal to sell reflective plates with the old style lettering? -

Renault Laguna - AA Breakdown Repair Cover - Dont Waste your money 24 May 2014 (Forum)
As soon as you drive a new car off the forecourt you will have some degree of wear and tear. What is the point of having insurance when every time I go to claim, the AA refuses to pay out? Anyone would think that they are trying to get me to cancel my insurance because my car is getting old. -

Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 04-05-2019 Part 1 14 May 2019 (Forum)
The VW system was done on the cheap and so is very poor, the BMW system in the i3 uses a camera and so fails whenever the sun is out! Lexus first fitted ACC to its cars more than 15 years ago, and the system still works perfectly on 15 year old Lexus cars. There is a reason that German cars don’t show the same reliability....... -

Honda or any older car - Precautionary water pump replacement 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
In last Saturday's Daily Telegraph someone wrote in who was planning to go on a European trip in a 2003 Peugeot. HJ replied that replacing the water pump is always a good idea before taking an old car for a long journey. I have a 1999 Honda which I am planning to take to Europe this summer - not for the first time. Should I be replacing the water pump? I've never had any obvious trouble nor the whining water pump noise. -

Peugeot 306 - Bypass heater exchange 4 May 2012 (Forum)
I have an old Peugeot 306, with a faulty heater exchange leaking into the passenger footwell of the car. Due to the age/value of the car, I don't want to replace the heater exchange. I'd like to simply bypass it so I can make the car last a few more months before I replace it (over the summer). -
Vauxhall Meriva B - Bought a fairly new car from Salvage - warranty? 28 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I bought a car from salavage and did it up. There is no record that its ever had a problem - unrecorded. Can I still use the warranty on it? I think if it goes on the ramp it is possible that they will notice its had an accident - it works fine just need to get the ECU reprogrammed and it's got a problem with error codes coming up - was wondering if its possible to use the warranty - it's less than a year old. -

Ford Mondeo - Mondeo Titanium Estate - 2.0 tdci Econetic 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hi All, Currently had a rushed test drive in a 2010 Mondeo Titanium estate today, so I didnt get a chance to explore the car fully. Its fitted with the econetic 115bhp engine. Anyone any views on the performance of this car with a detuned engine? How well does it overtake, and is there a need for a lot of gear-stirring? I found my old '05 mondeo 130bhp very sprightly, and I dont want to upgrade to a car with a significant performance downgrade. -

Focus v S40 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
SWMBO's Corolla is due for replacement and I have a shortlist of two - well, one really, but then I thought and hence the question. These two cars, in base form with a 1.6 petrol engine, are similar in price. The lady herself doesn't care. She does about 8,000 miles a year on A roads and hasn't a heavy right foot. We try to keep cars as long as possible - her Corolla will shortly be 10 years old. -
