I bought a Volvo XC70 with the manufacturer's warranty, but the car was serviced late - is the warranty void?

I have just bought a one-year-old Volvo XC70 from a main dealer, as part of the Volvo approved used car scheme. The car has 20,000 miles on the clock, but came with the balance of the manufacturer's guarantee which was another two years. However, on reading the service book, the first service was undertaken outside the allowed 1000-mile tolerance, at 20,300 miles instead of 18,000. The problem is that I think that this will have negated the official guarantee. Can you advise?

Speak to the garage and get the situation clarified. As part of the Volvo approved used scheme the car should come with certain requirements. If they claimed it had the balance of the manufacturer's guarantee then they should honour this. If it gets complicated then speak to Volvo's main customer service dept and explain the situation. They should help get it resolved.
