  Hi guys, So we bought a used car from a dealer. When viewing the car he said it was covered by a 3 month warranty for engine/gearbox etc. We bought the car 2 months ago and recently the pedal box snapped, so it need a new pedal box, clutch cable etc and came to a bill of £335 to fix.

  Audi are incentivising HP with 2 years warranty and servicing, Mercedes are not offering any incentive for HP. Both cars are used approved with the usual 1 year warranty. I expect to do very high mileage approx 30k p/a My question is; is the extra APR and therefore interest worth the extra year warranty at Audi compared to buying cash?

  Is my understanding correct that by law a trader must provide a 3-month warranty for every used car they sell? If so, what then is the case when a trader sells a car through eBay? Do they still need to provide the same level of backup, or is it classed as a private sale?? I'm considering bidding on a car being sold by a trader on eBay and the only reference he makes to any warranty is "Warranty available at extra cost."

    Took it to a local garage who tells us that the head gasket/valves need work and the car is firing on only two of the four cylinders.  We've been quoted £700 and £600 respectively by two independent garages. Contacted the dealer who advised we should claim against the warranty provider, but he won't give us any warranty details.

  About to do my once a decade plunge into buying a car and wondering if it's worth getting an extended warranty? The car I'll be getting is just out of Mercedes warranty and dealer is offering 6 months It used to be that some providers were definitely better than others but last time Iooked at this dinosaurs still walked the Earth.

  My car is due a P1 Service. The 3 year/60K warranty has now expired on it. Given the price differences in relation to using a Main Dealer or a normal garage for carrying out any maintenance work, is it still worth paying the extra, to keep with the main dealer?

  So the moral of the story is even if your car is outside of warranty, may be worth asking your independant garage to use genuine parts as if something major goes wrong you are more likely to get a good will gesture from the manufacture. I guess we live and learn!!
