CRV alternatives. 5 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I would like 4WD as an extra luxury due to some of the places I go but can live without it if necessary so long as I'm careful where I park up. Obviously a petrol 4WD is going to be greedy on fuel but providing it isn't too bad I reckon I can live with it. That said, I did have a 4WD CRV petrol on an 02 plate and it was horrendous on fuel. From a full tank, after 270 miles the low fuel light was back on and it was back to the filliing station for me! -

Honda Accord DTECH 2.2 - VSA Triangular sign ON 17 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Yesterday I took the car to a registered garage (Not Honda garage) for full service, All the service parts used including engine oil is from Honda dealer. The only item could not be replaced is fuel filter as the mechanic could not open the fuel filter housing cap so he removed the housing from the car and try opening it, he did not want to apply extra force in case it break the housing which would cost £300 for the unit so the housing was put back without changing the fuel filter. -
Volkswagen Polo '57 plate - Car slightly hesitant idling and Cardiff garages 17 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Car SORNed for a year last year. The car sounded like the car would cut out when it was idling about 4 months ago. Fuel filter was changed, fuel injector cleaner used and fuel injector position 3 was changed. This resolved most of the problems but it is still not quite right although it's better. Have had engine scanned for codes, spark plugs changed and compression test done - all OK. -

I have since had various other parts replaced and checked :- Engine Loom, Inlet manifold, injectors, crank sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel tank, airflow meter, throttle body and the throttle pedal. The car is running and running better obviously thanks to all the lovely new parts it has on it but, it is still doing the original problem, just on a less severe scale!?!? -

2001 ford fiesta 1.8 TD (di engine) - diesel fiesta will not start 6 Jul 2010 (Forum)
The engine turns over ok on the starter and the long you keep it going the faster it turns over until you think its is going to start but it never does. After trying to start it i get white smoke out the exhaust so it is getting fuel and also when I unscrew a glow plug and earth it gainst the block it glows red when the ignition is turned on so I am quite confident that the glow plugs are getting powered ok. I loosened the nut on the fuel pipes and turned the engine over till fuel leaked out so I am pretty sure the injection pump is working ok. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 06 2.0 TDCI - Advice on common problems 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Anyway - I have read a lot of horror stories about failing Dual Mass Flywheels (I'll be looking for replaced starter motors), Fuel Pumps putting swarf into the lines and failing the injectors (where is the fuel pump located so I can check if it's been replaced?), crap clutches etc etc... I'm hoping that the Mondeo Mk3 (which according to this site ran from 2000 to 2007 got better as time went on??? -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.0 Low on power/exhaust smoke suddenly appeari 16 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I had the MAF changed and there is a noticable difference at the 2800/3000 levels but it still seems sluggish at lower revs and when its cold. The air filter has been changed and I was going to change the fuel filter and disconnected the 3 fuel feeds and the electrical connection. Unfortunately the wrench I had was not big enough for the housing top,so I reconnected the fuel leads etc The car started and idled over without any problem so at this time I decided to use a charge and start cable (I have never used this before) to boost the battery on another car. -
It's not all Black and White! 15 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I drive 38 miles each way to work so 384 miles week. I've driven both cars to work for a week and worked out the average Fuel Consumption for each The Volvo 35mpg and the Bora 47mpg. Doing my sums it will cost me at todays fuel prices £553 a year more to drive the Volvo to work over the bora. But here is the rub, I brought the volvo before the fuel prices went silly and paid £4500 14 months ago. -
Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - '89-'941.6 (c16nz) fuel mixture problem! 29 Dec 2007 (Forum)
When i drive the highway the warning light lights and remains on until i stop the engine. I checked the car and told me that is bad fuel mixture. (the voltage of l-sensor is not varies) I changed the l-sensor. the same problem I changed the "cold"-sensor on the uptake (after the injection gas jet). the same problem I cleaned the injection. -

I'm not interested in hearing about diesel magnets, oil additives, multi level marjeting scams, etc, purely anyone who has used MPG CAPS into their fuel tank. cheers folks MTC -
Peugeot non start 3 Aug 2004 (Forum)
or is something more severe like the ECU (have checked it and only a small water mark on it which is dry now, shoke it to check theres no water inside). I've checked the fuel line and there's no fuel being pumped (so its not my hearing thats going) . Also checked the air intake/filter which is clear . Also gave the stepper motor a good clean. Anyone take a guess at whats wrong with my car? -
ZX Cold Start (Again) 25 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I have checked the resistance on the old plug behind the pump (that can\'t be removed) and that seems to be ok (offering the same resistance as the other new plugs). So that doesn\'t sound like the problem. I have looked at the fuel leak off pipes on the injectors, but can\'t see anything as the intercooler is in the way. What I can see is that there is an awful lot of what I suspect is old diesel fuel that looks like it is getting blown out of either the rightmost injector / or out of the top of it (as I can see fuel pooled around the base of the injector). -
Unhappy with main dealer-how to proceed? 13 Jan 2006 (Forum)
are: * I was told "fuel sender unit" at which point I decided to go ahead with the service/cambelt figuring the total cost would be around my "budget" for what I thought was a more serious fault. But then found out 4 hours later that the actual problem was a fuel pump at what I assume is much greater cost to correct. -
VAG DSG 23 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Does anyone know why the DSG is not mated to any petrol variants of VAG cars? It would surely improve the fuel consumption, compared with normal torque converter auto gearboxes. -
Car selector? 8 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Is there an online (UK) "car selector", i.e. an application to which I supply data, these (power, size, economy, fuel type, CO2 band, etc.) being used to "choose" possibilities?
