• Honda Jazz vs VW Polo 3 Nov 2013 (Forum)
  A friend is looking at both these cars (s/h about three years old). My inclination is towards the Jazz as another friend has run one for years - it has been 100% reliable and he finds the dealer service excellent. By comparision I feel VW became just another car years ago and neither are especially reliable nor enjoy good dealer service.

    As a motor trader do I have the right to charge a customer for re valeting, re advertising and and any damage to a car? (In this case £80) I sold a very tidy 12 year old car  to a customer with a new MOT and they are rejecting it a week later with no reasonable grounds after I had repaired a simple fault they refused to even take it back.

  This C5 car has the Bosch Brake System. This squealing has persisted over a few months and it was suggested I change from "Hard" Pads to softer ones. I replaced with Metelex Pads but the noise persists. (the old pads were hardly worn).

  I have a new polo with large plastic lensed h'lights which I want to take to France on holiday. With my old cars I just stuck some black tape on the lights over markings on the glass lenses. With this car there are no markings on the lenses and my vw garage advises fitting lense protectors first and then sticking their expensive stickers to those to avoid damaging the plastic !

  Hi Can anyone recommend someone in the Reading area to take a look at the air con in my car. I think it needs a service and general sorting out as it's smelly. The car is 4 years old and I don't think the dealer ever looked at it during services. The pollen filter was replaced last september.

  What I mean by this every time I open my bonnet I get covered in oil, every part seems to be covered in it. My old Fiesta I would never get oil on my hands...

  On a 4 year old car (when services due would be dashboard indicated) does anyone know if simply changing the oil and filter would provoke a "service due" light due to the change in cleanliness of the oil? I am a fan of frequent oil changes but see little point if my efforts to look after the car cause the light to come on; it is my intention to have the main service done by mercedes.

  My 5 series Touring is now nearly six years old, but has done a low mileage. I am following the BMW service plan and obviously the car has been MOT'd and as part of this tyre tread has been checked and signed off. However obviously weathering must impact the life of the tyres.

  whats the worst tyres youve ever fitted to your car?, i put a pair of cheap chinese budget tyres on my motor and i couldnt hear the radio above 30, i had them balanced but the car still juddered and hopped ,in the end i put my old ones back on (very worn bridgestones) so i need to replace them soon any one know of a good cheap tyre pref not part worn?

  My old Nissan Bluebird is nearing the end of its life at last, and needs replacing this year. It's only a second car, which gets very light use (to and from work if I don't cycle, and occasional evening trips when the other car is in use), so I'd like something smaller, and I'd like an automatic.

  just come in from a night out, went to cardiff auctions. lots of cars with very few people, what sold was fetching retail money. many vehicles went unsold, cant remember the details of individual cars except a two and a half year old daewoo matiz with 126000 miles went for £2500 provisional and an 02 leon for £5500 provisional i thought that was all its money and it was snot green ...cheers...keo

  Hi all, I am putting a new cd player into a Mk3 fiesta when I removed the old one from the car there is a grey/yellow wire, coming from the car loom end not the radio, which isn't connected to anything. Not sure if it should be it's been stripped and just hanging bare. Does anyone know what it is for.

  Coincidentaly the annual service is usually followed by an expensive period where previously unknown faults manifest themselves. On an 11 yr old car I suppose this is understandable. Thanks in advance for any help. Regards DougB.

  Hi I have a 9 year old Civic which I have serviced my self for the past 5 years, oil, filters etc and it seems to run fine. The car passes its MOT with no problems. What checks and adjustments has the engine been missing out on over the last 5 years, if I was to put the car in for a tune up which tasks should I ask for?

  My boss owns one of the above - just three years old. The car is lacking power on inclines, almost as if the turbo isn't kicking in and he has to drop down to second and in some cases 1st gear. The car accelerates on flat roads no problem. No obvious black smoke from back end.
