Toyota states there is no other car on the UK market that exactly matches the benefits offered by its Prius Plug-in Hybrid Synergy Drive full hybrid powertrain: it offers the near-silent, zero emissions performance of an electric vehicle, being able to run on its lithium-ion battery for around 15.5 miles (v/s 30 miles for the Ampera) and at speeds up to 51mph. When battery charge runs low, the car’s full hybrid system – which includes a highly efficient 1.8-litre petrol engine – takes over, so the driver doesn’t have to worry about whether the car has enough power to reach its destination. -

MINI unveils electric scooter concept 24 Sep 2010 (News)
The car maker is branching out with the unveiling of a scooter that could cost as little as 1p a mile to run. The MINI Scooter E concept is an electric two-wheeler inspired by the 60s - the hey dey of the classic Mini. With a range of 30 miles and a total charging time of around 4 to 5 hours, it's an ideal urban runabout and is expected to go on sale in 2012 - just in time for the London Olympic Games. -

Deloitte fined £14m over MG Rover's accounts 9 Sep 2013 (News)
According to Reuters, MG Rover's accountancy company, Deloitte, has been fined £14m by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) over not being able to succeed in manage conflicts of interest in its advice to MG Rover Group in the run-up to its falling into administration in 2005. Deloitte and partner Maghsoud Einollahi had acted as corporate finance advisers to firms involved with MG Rover and the Phoenix Four, including giving tax advice while Deloitte audited MG Rover. -

Joining Mike in taking on the hill was ex-Le Mans and BTCC racer Anthony Reid driving an XFR – his enthusiastic driving style won him the TAG Heuer 'Most Spirited Getaway' award.
