  Air con stopped working, although light on switch illuminated, electro clutch on compressor did not operate. Booked into an a/c "specialist" who regassed the system to no avail and presented me with a bill and estimate for a new compressor £500+.

  I think it cost around £29.99 for a large maybe 800ml cannister I need to recharge the air con on my 2001 Mercedes. I have a 1999 Honda shuttle that's been much busier and it still works fine - though it never was/is ice cold whereas the Merc was a freezer. thanks for any help Buster

  Hi All I have a Qashqai with manual air con that is not working. I'm pretty sure the compressor clutch isn't  engaging and I have checked the relay fuse (OK) and teh button/led come on too. I supsect therefore that there might be low refridgerent  pressure that is  preventing the clutch activating.

  I have a Ford Fiesta Freestyle 1.6 Y reg (2001). When the engine is started from cold and the air circulation / blowers or air con (it happens the same for both) is on cold and stays there, there is no problem with the temperature in the car. However, if the engine is already warm, or the temperature is turned up for longer than a few minutes, the air that comes into the car is piping hot and will not get any cooler.

  It appeared to be coming from the back of the engine compartment, I couldn't see the exact source. I'd had the air-conditioning on the whole time I was driving, could this be related to the dehumidifying properties of the air-con? Thanks Mike

  This is probably one for Elekie&AirconDoctor ... The air conditioning on my Vectra doesn't seem to be cooling as it should! I know that when first started there was a "sucking" sound from the air con (compressor?) that lasted about one second. Now the sound lasts for about three or four seconds with a short "suck" every now and then.

  I've read that there is a box of tricks called a Bitron that controls the fans for the cooling and the air con, now, if this failed, would it stop the fans working completely? Is there anywhere I can take a voltage reading from to eliminate certain parts of the circuit? Also, I cant see the Bitron unit.

  HI all - the heater in the van has just decided not to blow out warm anymore and also the air con which has always worked now appears not to be working - is this coincidence both are gone or would one problem cause them both to fail? any ideas/fixes?

  It looks 6 cylinder and 24 valve to me - judging by the 4 x cam's at the top. Air con I guess via the big lump at the bottom left.... Any clues as to displacement / Turbo? http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc340/funnyroadsigns/stupidstuffwithcars/car11.jpg Just interested really....

  Hi We have a renault scenic where the heater/air con light comes on ok (so the fuse is ok) but the heater fans don't work - any ideas?

  On the 40K service stamp they have added B-F-C and Tick to show it has been done. Does any one know what this stands for is it by any chance an Air Con service. Main Audi Dealer Cardiff. Regards Peter

  My wifes new shape Fiesta is giving a little grief, in that it suffers heavily from misted up windows, particularly in the morning. It doesn't have air-con and my first thought is a problem with the pollen filter. Does anyone know where it is and if it's easy to replace.

  Help required please if possible.My T reg 1.8 TD keeps blowing the engine management fuse and with it taking out the blower/air con head lights and all instrument lights.However the individual fuses for these remain intact.I've got it booked in with an auto electrician tomorrow but any advice would be appreciated,thanks.

  My new car is the first one to have air con. But how do I use it? Is it only with the temperature on COLD, or does it have some benefit on medium and higher temperature settings. I do not think I have climate control, but what do I know, eh?

  On driving the car home I noticed the drivers mirror was moving around and had come away from the fixing, also no gas in air con. On arriving home I emailed the garage and added a video of mirror and also about no air con gas. I was told to get air con regassed and they would send me the money. On getting re gas the garage said the condenser unit was corroded and would need replacing as it was going to keep losing, rang garage and they said to get a quote and they would pay.
