  Hello all I have a 2006 ford focus 1.8 tdci, just recently the air con has stopped working. i took it to a garage to have it re gassed and was told gas levels were ok.   When I turned the ignition key this morning it was very stiff (not happened before), the car starts OK but the air con control display panel doesn't light up so no air con. I think I read somewhere that the electric feed to the air con control panel is from the ignition switch. The same thing happened about 8 weeks ago but righted itself after a couple of days.

The dealer called to say it needs re-charging and, incidentally, that they will charge me £152 for the priviledge.   I had a leak on my air con. A garage re gassed it and used some die. Within a week the air con stopped working so i used halfords seak and seal air con kit. Its some new refrigerant oil and a gas kit. Its worked fine up to now, But when i tried to use it yesterday it didnt work.

  The concerned staff at Kwik Fit are very worried that by driving with our windows down, we are collectively wasting £650,000 a year (cf £50,000,000,000+ collective annual fuel bill). Fortunately, the kindly souls have got a solution. They can recharge your air con for only £49 so you don't have to fritter away the £££s by driving with your windows down.  I've seen a couple of tests in car and driver that suggest that driving withthe window ajar has no noticeable effect-even at 60mph+, whereas the air compressor pump does have a noticeable effect.

  Hiya i have a 306 1.9td S reg, for a while now my rev counter decides to drop anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes into a journey, the air con seems to cut out about the same time, the light on the dash stays on though, just isn't cold anymore you press it off then on, no click or cold air. It only starts working again after the car has been left off for a few hours.

  So had it regassed last week, the garage said it had gas in already but was a little low, i agreed to have it vacumed and refiled, i was hoping that this would cure the problem.......Alas it didnt. Next i had it scanned and it showed a fault code G65 high pressure air con switch faulty. So off to Audi for a new one, Bargain at only £55....Not! Anyway a small price to pay for the cold air i was expecting to pour from my vents. I had it fitted today and still the same.....No cold air.

  Hi, Bit of advice please, I had the air con on the other day, when all of a sudden there was a noise like gas escaping, a funny smell and the air con now only blows hot. I am going to take it somewhere next week, but any ideas what is wrong and what sort or bill i could be expecting.
