  • Will need a 'station car' car soon... 15 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Now, to me, long stay/station car parks mean 2 things : 1) people reversing into other cars and driving off, and 2) car crime. I'm not prepared to put the Jaaag through that so it's going to have to go. However, I also have to drive to another office once a month and that's a 400 mile round trip, usually going there on Monday evening & returning Thurs evening.
  • Toyota Prius - Used car advice 22 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I want to get a car which will last for that amount of time and hopefully longer. I will be buying a car and driving it until it's last breath. I am drawn to toyotas because of their reputation for longevity and reliability. I also want good fuel economy. I will be driving a 100 mile round trip commute 3 times a week on mostly motorways and A roads but with some inevitable London congestion.
  • Daewoo Matiz - Check engine light puzzle 12 Sep 2016 (Forum)
    2) The fan seems to work be working perfectly well, yet the DTC reappears every time I clear it. 3) The DTC/MIL does not come on if I just sit on the drive with the car running. It only occurs after a minute or two driving.   Well if anyone out there has any ideas, I would be really grateful to hear them.

  • Nissan Qashqai? - Affordable new/used family car for long commute 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Either way I need to keep the payment to around £250 as I'm guessing the fuel, servicing etc will be as much again on top. I like the high driving position of 4x4/SUV type cars, so I'm drawn to the Nissan Qashqai 1.5DCi. The new one, according to the published figures, averages 74mpg, while a 2012 version claims 54mpg. (I'm assuming I can take 20% off these in real world driving).

  • Sorry, it's a 'what car should I get' post! 1 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Should I spend closer to 1k or 3k on a car and should I avoid diesels given how little I expect to be driving?
  • Peugeot 306 - Peugeot 306 1.4 Engine issue 6 May 2013 (Forum)
Back on drive i saw the cable unpluged and put it back, but problem stayed. I assumed it was miss firing so i checked the leads, all was fine, i removed the plugs and checked each one was sparking, all was fine.
  • Audi A3 - Licence Revoking-Court not advising DVLA 27 May 2011 (Forum)
In the mean time I had to inform work to get someone to collect the car, pay 170 pound, take 2 days off of work. I am certain in the next few days that I will be able to drive again, but I have the following questions: How to I guarantee from the dvla its been updated before I drive Why the officers in 2010 never seized the car How I get my money back and how i ascertain if it was the court not informing the dvla or the dvla not updating the system?
  • hyundai/ kia/ nissan/ honda - its impossible to buy a new car 3 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Kia - told me they had a new sportage in, so a 30 min drive to go to see it. Got there to be told Kia had taken it back 30 mins earlier and they wouldn't have one in to even look at for about 2 weeks. Thanks for telling me Mr Kia, I appreciate wasting an hour of my life and a gallon of very expensive petrol.
  • VW Passat 1.9 tdi 2002 estate. - “Rattle” noise from automatic Passat gearbox 2 Sep 2010 (Forum)
When I start to drive off the rattle remains say up to 10 to 15 mph then the noise goes away. As I slow back down to below 15mph and when then I come to a stand still again, I can hear the rattle. Sometimes the noise (rattle) is worse than other times.
  • Ford Focus - Facing Prosecution what can I do 1 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I signed the declaration on this basis.  In my defence I wasn't driving the car and I can prove it as I drive a company car and was in a meeting 50 miles away from where the offence took place. Having investigated how I could have withheld information I have now found that although my drivers licence address been amended by the DVLA 8 months before the offence having moved property after a messy divorce my log book was not updated hence the reason why the initial summons went to my old address.
  • Suzuki Swift - 27/M/UK First time driver...insurance costs make me swear! 22 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I certainly don't expect it to be my cheap and cheerful privilege, but it is frankly confirming all the doubts I had about driving that had always put me off. I feel that I'm already stuck having to bite the bullet rather than completely waste all the money I've already spent on numerous driving lessons, associated test costs, and the car itself.
  • Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - C5 Impressions after four months. 3 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Drives beautifully. It's a big car, something I'm still getting used to. Very spacious inside with a good size boot (not so in the saloon model). It looks great in black with chrome trimmings. Gear changes are very smooth, hardly noticeable at times.
  • Back from holiday - Ratmobile made it fine 11 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Holiday was lovely although my mates wanted to rest a lot and I find resting impossible I always have to keep active. I did a lot of driving round Wales and really really really hate driving in Manchester now. I could drive at 70mph in Wales without any incident where as Manchester everytime I go some where new there is always a little incident (my fault or otherwise).
  • When does your driving style change? 6 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I am hoping that people on this forum can contribute to the study by telling me, through examples of past experiences, about factors which they feel influence their driving behaviour. For example, I was driving home on the A686 the other day. It is a glorious road with some fantastic bends. A lot of the time you are dancing between 2nd and 3rd gears. Anyway, the sun was shining and the roof was down, and I was on my own in the car.
  • B-class - first impressions 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Ford C-Max - good to drive but the impression was of flimsier build quality, and they lose their value faster than the others. Well, I hope that lot was interesting to some - if not, too bad!

  • Well I liked it.... 9 Feb 2003 (Forum)
(They're not free points either - they're £20 each and I was only allowed 3.) But the man at the Police Station said that because I drive a BMW, it won't be much longer before I earn the full 12 points, and then I won't even NEED a driving licence, so they will take it off me! See, now THAT's the sort of respect you get when you buy and drive a BMW!
