  • Breakdown 6 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I changed my cam belt at 5 years and 43k, I do 6 monthly/6k oil changes, my car is serviced, anything that goes wrong with it is fixed, and Driving home on the M4 today, I got through the roadworks near Junction 6 and tried to accelerate out in my 1989 Renault 19 1.7. I say tried because, as I did so, the accelerator cable lost all tenstion and the pedal hit the floor. Pedal to the metal, maybe, but zero performance. Thankfully I still had a week left on my RAC membership and the patrol was there within about 40 minutes.
  • Alloys 24 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Yes, I know I don\'t really NEED them, but I just hate the plastic wheel trims on my S reg Renault Scenic. I wish I could just either order-up a brand new set of alloys / tyres from the local Renault dealer or pop into Halfords, etc to get a new set, but I just havn\'t got that sort of money. I\'ve now opened up a can of worms by looking into getting a used set - on Ebay or searching for breakers that may have a Scenic with good wheels (undamaged) that might fit.
  • Faulty Megane and Motorpoint 28 Apr 2001 (Forum)
OK, I thought, it's under warranty. Not so said the dealer, the warranty book is stamped 29th March 2000 with a Renault dealer in Calais' stamp. Motorpoint must have bought it from them then and that's when the waranty runs from. They contacted Renault UK who agreed with them, even though the warranty booket states it runs from the date of delivery (29th March) or the date of first registration (20th October 2000) whichever is the later.
  • Jazz CRV ? - Honda May return to the UK 27 Dec 2024 (Forum)
News that discussions are underway for a collaboration between the two companies and Nissan May allow Honda to produce cars at the Sunderland factory which is running under capacity. Formal agreement will be needed from Renault who are also in discussions with a Taiwanese company who wish to buy Nissan. Grest news for car production in the UK if it all goes through
  • The Electric Vehicle (EV) thread Vol 10 9 Jul 2024 (Forum)
The Zoe seems quite well-regarded - my neighbours were very pleased with theirs - so this could be a useful addition to the range. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/new-cars/2021-09-1/renault-unveils-megane-e-tech-electric-with-292-mile-range/
  • Suzuki Vitara 2015 - General judgement 19 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Dear John, as to me the new Suzuki Vitara compares in no way to the Renault Captur, the Opel Mokka, or the Citroen Cactus, neither to the Fiat 500 X whatever journalists might say. It should be compared to the Mitsubishi ASX to begin wth. Further more: it seems to me a great car, taking into account the price for the low budget versions.
  • Why are my sidelights not working? 4 Dec 2013 (Ask HJ)
Any ideas on why he near side sidelights on a Renault Kangoo Van 2010 will not work?
  • Mid size car/mpv for 5 adults 5 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The only problem is the hump in the middle of the back seat. Would 3 adults sit comfortably side by side in MK1 Renault Scenic? Any other suggestions welcome. Cheers Richard
  • Volkswagen Scirocco Mk III (2008 - ) - Scirocco owners - everybody happy? 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
This is a follow-up from my recent test-drive of the Renault Megane Coupe, 2.0 TCE - ultimately a disappointing experience. I haven't yet driven a Scirocco but most information seems very positive - I'd appreciate some feedback from actual owners on their experiences?
  • Van derived MPV (new) 2 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Visited my local renault, fiat and citreon dealerships yesterday - none of the are interested in doing deasl, they seem to have gone back to list prices since the government scrappage scheme. Anyway, where not bothered what make it is, but we do want a new berlingo (old or new shape), doblo or kangoo mpv van thing.
  • How strong is the Nissan Di engine? 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I'm looking at maybe buying an older Primera, Almera, or Almera Tino, and would ideally like one of the diesel engines. A cursory Google reveals issues with the (I believe) Renault-sourced DCi engines, but is the older Di engine a good 'un? cheers tt
  • James May - light, fast, economical challenge 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Anyone got any suggestions for a new engine + old bodyshell challenge? I reckon a Renault Supercinq 1.7 Monaco with a 1.5 dCi engine, chipped to 120ish bhp, would do the job nicely. Does anyone fancy building one? I can't find a Monaco but I have found a suitable looking GTX as a donor car.
  • Daimler reportedly talking to FIAT 11 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Just hope it's not another Alfa Arna with, this time, German design flair and Italian electrics :) Whatever next ? Daimler talk to Renault about fixing the R Class ???
  • Nissan Navara Engine ?? 17 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Would anyone know whether the 2.5 chain cam engine in the Nissan Navara is sourced from Nissan or Renault ? Have already checked out car x car details, which neither mentions whether this is a Nissan engine or the potential reliablility of this vehicle. After reading about numerous turbo problems experienced with the Nissan X-Trail, any info would be much appreciated.
  • look4mycar.com - any feedback? 2 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Sorry if this has been covered but when I searched I couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance. Craig (Considering a Renault G/Scenic)
  • Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar target price??? 8 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Hi there, Does anyone know what target price I should be getting quoted for a new Nissan Primstar/Vauxhall Vivaro/Renault Trafic 1.9 DCI SWB with a low roof??? I determined not to be robbed when I bargain with the dealer and it would be helpful if I knew what sort of target price I should be aiming for!!!!!! Many thanks in advance.
  • running in diesel engine 7 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The converse is what problems would the engine be likely to have if it was over revved during the run in period I am looking at a renault diesel one year old with about 8,000 miles on the clock. If the enggine has had a hard life early on does changing the oil to fully synthetic make and diffs Thanks alan
  • New Laguna 21 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, should be a breeze for the knowledge available here - does anyone know when Renault are replacing the current Laguna (Laguna II) ? A friend has a current model and is thinking of replacing it with a brand new one, would be useful to know when the new one is coming out as I'd imagine that wouldn't help the values of the current models!
  • Car dumping 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Over the last couple of days, have seen a dark green L-reg Mondeo estate, a lovely old Mercedes 230CE coupe, a Renault Clio and a late eighties Jaguar XJ6, all obviously dumped and with bits missing. The banger trade must really be in a poor state, if cars like this are being abandoned at the roadside. Richard Hall http://bangernomics.tripod.com
  • Ugly 8 Jan 2003 (Forum)
...the Avantime and new Megane. They look like Renault have simply drawn a brick, attached something resembling a bonnet and taken a chunk out of the back. Any comments? Also, at risk of people shouting at me, I'm pretty surprised by Lord Irvine's comments regarding burglars and society's supposed view that a lack of a prison sentence is OK.
