...the Avantime and new Megane. They look like Renault have simply drawn a brick, attached something resembling a bonnet and taken a chunk out of the back. Any comments?
Also, at risk of people shouting at me, I'm pretty surprised by Lord Irvine's comments regarding burglars and society's supposed view that a lack of a prison sentence is OK. The consequential punishments dealt would be equivalent to certain driving offences where there are no aggravating factors..

Like the Fiat Multipla, the new Renaults are a breath of fresh air. Vehicles that don't look like every other vehicle you see, what a novel idea.
|
Of course.
But, the Multipla is also dog ugly. The Scenic was fairly radical upon launch but not *too* radical.
There are some cars that are/were very different - Ford Ka when it was launched, Lotus Elise, New Mini... OK these aren't particularly different but they don't look like 'every other vehicle' and they are still pretty.
Just an opinion anyway. :)

Tom,
There's different (Audi TT?,) then there's dangerously different!
Surely the Multipla is more "halitosis" than "breath of fresh air"?
Agree that there are too many that look exactly alike these days.

Several of the cars of that style make me think that they are designed to be parked by being stood up on their back ends!

In the Motor and Autocar magazines from the 1930/40s they would sometimes draw ideas of "vehicles for the future". For the past 20 years I've smiled that these images were way off but now Renault are making them!
