  • 3 wishes for the post-Brexit genie 29 Sep 2017 (Forum)
If the UK somehow managed to leave the UK without too much fuss and "sovereignty" were suddenly restored - in other words, if the clock were turned back to 1972 - what would be your three motoring wishes? Indicator stalk restored to the right hand side? A return to dim-dip lighting? Fuel sold in gallons? HGVs restricted to their 1964-1983 maximum weight of 32 tonnes? Crossing the channel by hovercraft?
  • Honda Jazz CVT 7 2006 model - Car "stutters" whilst driving around town 30 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Hi, My Honda Jazz has been fantastic except on occasion it seems to "stutter" whilst driving around town as though the fuel has been restricted. This only lasts for a fraction of a second and is completely intermitent, no problems on motorways. I have had the car thorougly checked over but no problems detected. The car has done 50,000 miles and the plugs were changed at 30, 000 miles.
  • Audi/BMW - Which convertible? 3 May 2017 (Forum)
I'm wondering what you all think about BMW 3 Series versus Audi A4, versus Audi TT, (all petrol models).? Had an old TT previously and loved it but it's very thirsty, as is the A4. Beamer better on fuel and tax but about £2k more expensive initially, which I will struggle to find. Any thoughts please?
  • VW passat 1.6l petrol engine from 1997 - LOSS OF POWER ON ACCELERATION 15 Aug 2016 (Forum)
The power is therefore drastically reduced on acceleration. In addition, if the car is driven in such condition, the fuel consumption dramatically increase. Please note that a while ago, I had removed the thermostat on the engine. Thanks. Simon
  • Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdci (90) - Flat spot / loss of power 2 Jun 2016 (Forum)
It's been driving like this a while but I can finally afford to try fix it. Also checked things like fuel pressure and air flow, can send images of the graphs taken. Any ideas?

Hi, i know there are a lot of threads out there on this but almost too many to make sence of them all lol, i have recently bought a nissan micra 52 plate off of a 'friend' that said it broke down then re started once now just wont start at all, it tries to but will not fire, i have replaced the battery and spark plugs and checked that they are sparking blue, also have changed the oil, oil filter air and fuel filter as a service was 4 years overdue :/ any help would be great thanks, stuart
  • Any Focus 2.0 petrol MK 2.5 owners out there? 17 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Fifth gear was also just too low geared for easy motorway cruising. I realise the 2.0 will be even worse on fuel/tax, but I just can't risk the diesel! I wish I could test drive one to see the power difference, but I more than likely have to travel out of Cornwall to find one.
  • Hyundai Matrix - Lambda reading for MOT 6 Aug 2015 (Forum)
I used to have a Peugeot diesel which failed a couple of MOT smoke tests. Using fuel additives (Forte Diesel Treatment and BG CF5) and some long hot motorway miles allowed the car to easily pass on re-testing. I now have a Hyundai Matrix which came close to failing the MOT Lamda emissions test.

  • Citroën C3 1.4 petrol 2004 - Citroën C3 misfire 31 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Had a engine management light on now and then computer gives P1336 as the error.   A local garage said it's fuel injectors I've replaced all 4 and spark plugs and on further advice coil pack. Still missing at low revs but once it goes over 2000rpm it seems fine quickly accelerating up to 70mph.  Etc....
  • ford galaxy - misfire 5 Nov 2014 (Forum)
My 2000 ford galaxy 2.3 Zetec has suddenly stopped firing on cylinders 1 and 3 without warning, fuel is OK but no spark, cylinders 2 and 4 are fine which means both coil packs have gone down at the same time which to me seems strange, so my question is... What else can stop cylinders 1 and 3 from sparking considering 2 and 4 are running fine.
  • fiesta mk6 2002 1.4 - cam cover gasket renewal 7 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Hi all I have loosened all the bolts securing the cover to the head including the 2 under the air filter box mounts but i still cant remove it because of a wire that goes from the fuel rail to the back of the head. Am i right that i have to disconnect that connector? If so can you explain how to do so? I dont want to wreck anything. Its a 1.4 engine. All help appreciated as i am losing a fair bit of oil from this naff gasket.
  • charging circuit fault - Land Rover 90 9 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Once we jump started it I tested the voltage: Battery 12.3v with the engine running at tickover, and if the revs were increased then the battery voltage dropped to below 12v. There were no lights or any electrical equipment switched on (save presumably the fuel pump). Any ideas on what I should be testing? MTIA

  • Ford Mondeo Estate or Vauxhall Vectra - Diesel Estate which one? 3 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I do in the region of 22000 miles per year of which there is quite a few towing miles. I think I can save around £700 to £1000 in fuel per year, if I get a diesel estate. I have got it down to 2 and it is either a Mondeo or Vectra. My budget is somewhere between £1500/£2000 which has me looking at a 2005/2004 model.
