  Hi, i recently had the misfortune of having a light front end collision in my 306 hdi,  external damage would be an easy repair for myself,  however, both the passenger and drivers airbag were activated and are still in the deployed state, my main problem is that the engine will not turn over on the key, i have located the front impact sensor with red cap found to the rear of the battery tray, and pressed it to reset, but still no joy,  i assume i will have to replace airbags before i can get engine running ? any info regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

  i got into the car this morning,turned the key. car wouldnt start. when i turn the key all im getting is like a continous clicking noise. is it possible that the starter motor could have frozen in this terrible weather we have got. i dont want to try to srtart it just incase the battery dies out on me. ive tried it a few times but like i said all im getting when i turn the ignition on is a clicking noise(continuous). any suggestions are welcome.

  Although there is nothing apparent wrong with the car and no codes show on my reader, would it be beneficial to get any ford codes read and ECU updated? I' also told that disconnecting the battery for 10mins ‘resets’ the ECU and it then relearns all the settings as you drive? Graham.

  The owner reported a burning smell under the bonnet but I couldn't smell anything. The main lights fuse has been removed to prevent the battery going flat overnight. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

   In the end I told them what needed doing (after my own research on the internet) which solved the problem ! Why did they not diagnose the battery in the first place ? I feel totally despondent now and feel conned good n proper, also are they legally obliged to provide paperwork for ALL parts fitted (albeit some FOC as i created a scene)....I have reported them to Trading Standards.

  My wife recently purchased a run about for work and the dipped and rear lights are constantly on in dipped mode when she puts the ignition on. They switch off as soon as she turns the ignition off, so it's not draining the battery (yet) but I would love to know if there is a way to put it back to 'normal'. The rear wiper doesn't seem to work either but the rear washer jet does ( I understand they are on the same pin on the copper boot connector pins).

   If I bump start the car all is fine and I can drive for months without the problem occuring again. I dont think that it is a battery or alternator problem because I havent had any electrics problems but I could be wrong. Any suggestions?

  (it works if i turn key in passinger door, I mean the solenoids operate in all doors inc the drivers side ) I have sprayed the key hole with wD etc, did help for a short while, but was short lived also the key fob does not work, battery ok, led comes on ( is radio frequency type, and it seems to re-program ok, is it the receiver unit ?) I would be happy initially to get the door mech working on the drivers side , then tackle, the remote fob issue, all advice appreciated thanks in advance

    If I then press the unlock door button on the key fob again, I can then start the engine but the Red "Key" signal flashes a few times and goes out until I park the car and have to restart it again.  Is this a sign that the battery in the key fob needs replacing?  The manual is not very clear about this.  I have had the car 2.5 months. It is 5 years old.  I have no problems locking or unlocking the car using the key fob.

  Doors lock/unlock with the key and car starts fine but can immobilise if I do not start the car but just open it retrieve something then lock up. Ive changed the fob battery to no avail either and been told it could be the fob which is £120! Does anyone know how you can test this or reset the entire central locking? Thanks

  bmw 328 ci coupe 2000 w reg, my battery went dead for my fault, jumped the car with jumpleads, started straight up, but now my power steering does not work and you cant hear the power steering noise and can only just about turn steering wheel, i want to know is there a fuse or relay that runs it that i can look at before i look at the pump, i have checked the fuses in glovebox but they are all ok, are there any more fuses to try ????

  On the couple of occasions this has happened by getting out of the car, locking it, unlock then turn the key again the car starts. I'm assuming electrics, anyone shed any expertise on this? The battery is fully charged and no fault codes showing.   Thanks.

  Just trying to help out a neighbour whose Son disconnected the battery without realising the code entry issue on the radio. BUT, upon pressing the AS key whilst switching the radio on, it does indeed come up with the display showing the four dashes, for the code input  _ _ _ _ HOWEVER, as soon as I release the AS key to input the code, the _ _ _ _'s disappear and the word PANEL comes up in the display.

  My list of failures in the last 8 months are: turbo, EGR valve, fuel cap sensor, 2 wheel bearings, full set of pads, rear discs and yet more pads, battery and the fuel stuff toped up. the anti pollution warning light came on a month ago and went off, but I'm sure it will retrun. Now a cracked spring. Do I need 2 replaced and who thinks I should sell the car?

  Is it possible the code needs wiping and all would be well? And could I do this by disconnecting the battery or would I need to get it done with a tech2? During the 2 weeks the eml was on it did disappear a couple of times but only for a short while each time (approx 10 mins). Many thanks in advance.

  hi changed my cam sensor and now the eml is on constant , disconected the battery for 40mins and still on so done paperclip test and im getting P0110 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction and P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction iv put original sensor back on and eml still on its had new plugs , leads , dis pack ,cleaned throttle body, new crankshaft sensor,cleaned iac, new colant temp sensor and also new maf some help would be good thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

  I have been driving for 45 years - in that time I have only broken down and recovered 3 times, fixed at the side of the road 3 times. Major repairs - Gearbox 2 x both under warranty, Head gasket x 1, Clutch x 1, rear axle x1. Batteries x 2 ( 1 under warranty), electrical faults x 3/4........................really the rest is brakes, tyres, and servicing. Mileage would probably average 20-25,000 mls/year. Makes - mostly Ford, Vauxhall, some BL, odd MB, last 14 years Honda, Mazda, Nissan.

  A year ago I replaced the glow plugs so cant imagine they would need changing again. I tried 'double preheating' it, given the battery a jump start and a charge but it still wont start. It was fine on Saturday, didnt use it yesterday, cant use it today. Any ideas at all please?

  I have primed the fuel filter and the filter has definately got diesel in it. After attempting to start it by towing it as the battery is now flat, there is pressure in the system if I release one of the pipes off the filter. I have released the injectors and there is a small amount of diesel present, but when turning the engine over no fuel is squirting out of the injectors.
