Fiesta Finesse 1999 1.3 - Side/rear lights constantly on - vikes

Hello.

My wife recently purchased a run about for work and the dipped and rear lights are constantly on in dipped mode when she puts the ignition on.

They switch off as soon as she turns the ignition off, so it's not draining the battery (yet) but I would love to know if there is a way to put it back to 'normal'.

The rear wiper doesn't seem to work either but the rear washer jet does ( I understand they are on the same pin on the copper boot connector pins). I don't know if this is a probable cause of the lighting issue, but thought I would mention it just in case.

have you checked to see if its an import ?? as in some countries they are law.
there may also be a day running light relay in the fuse box

The light switch on the end of the indicator stalk often give problems.I wonder if somebody has by-passed the switch to give permanant lights with ignition on.The rear wiper could be the motor faulty or more commonly the tailgate has lost its earth circuit through the hinge pins.Does the hrw work ok?hth

She says she doesn't know if the heated rear window works as yet.

I won't get to do any investigations until the weekend now because of the early/dark nights (no garage).
