  I have a problem...i have a 53 Punto 1.2 Active and the bonnet release cable has snapped and pulled right through. I need to open the bonnet as due to the cold weather I need to replace the battery. I've tried taking the bottom grill out and getting my hand up & in to release the catch but no go.   will putting the leads on the battery the wrong way round when jump starting cause the ecu to fry... as car now will not start.. immobiliser light flashes all dash lights illuminate ..mileage shows.. central locking works off the fob...and bleeps once on close..

  The problem seemt to affect the passenger rear window by refusing to open.   I have had to replace the battery about 7 month ago and again recently it went flat during cold weather.   I'm wondering if there is a connecting and maybe a piece of equipment has been deprogrammed and needs to be reset.

  my peugeot 206hdi 55 plate will not start when cold i have fully serviced it (no sign of metal fragments in fuel filter) changed the glow plugs/relay fitted a new battery and it still refuses to start i replaced the starter aswell, this morning i sprayed a small amount of easy start into it and it fired staright away could this be a fuel pressure problem? the car runs fine once running and starts every turn of the key till next morning then same old problem, their are no fault codes stored and no engine managment light and it drives fine and doesnt go into limp mode. can anyone help as its drivin me nuts now.

  However if I peersist with the at short intervals it will start after about 5/7 minutes. This started about three weeks ago and it symptomatic of a battery being dead untill it starts again and it fires just normally as though nothing had happened. There is no warning, nothing to say to yourself it is acting up everything is normal untill I try to start it.

  Idleing fine but the same problem. Any push on the gas pedal it just cuts out. Update. Disconnected battery and left for 10 mins. Started engine back up and now it seem if its not running on all cylinders.

  Hi all, got a problem, the remote stopped working on the wifes sharan the other day so when I got home from work I changed the battery in the fob for her thinking this was easy and would no doubt get me a few brownie points. That bit was easy but now thw remote is not talking to the car and as we have only ever had one key all the resynch. methods seam to require 2 keys to work.

    Investigation by my garage showed that My No 4 Injector was faulty. I have  had my No 4 Injector replaced and the spark plugs changed. The coil pack and battery were checked over. I have been driving it now for two weeks and the Airbag light is now permanently on and it beeps when I apply the handbrake. The speedometer now no longer moves from zero.

  (Feels a bit like the wheels have got stuck in something!)  It is in gear, but dies away as if not.  Battery warning light flashes on momentarily, as if stalling, but when you lift off the gas, it immediately picks up and all is OK again. Not sure if an electrical problem, leads, misfire or what??

  [endif]--> Having some trouble with the old Volvo. Horn stopped working suddenly. Fuses OK and Horn OK, (connected to battery and was very loud!). Wiring seems OK but will need to check continuity at weekend Could it be the centre push switch on the steering wheel? If so how easy to fix considering parts may be hard to get and the wheel has an air bag?

  hi just a quick question my vectra is running very rough and i suspected a problem with the mass air flow meter so i removed the electrical connector turned on the ignition and put a volt meter between the live and earth on the connector to see if power was being supplied to the maf and to my suprise it only returned a reading of 7.38 volts, if i put one end of the volt meter to live on the maf connector and the other to earth on the battery i get a full 12 volt reading is 7.38 volts using the live and earth on the connector normal   regards melvyn

  I hope someone out there can help me. Last week I left my lights on over night, and of course had a flat battery in the morning - RAC fixed it no problem, but the air bag light came on straight after I started up. Today after filling up with fuel, the engine managment light is now showing amber. This is not the only problem, a couple of months ago whilst driving all the lights on the dash board lit up, all bleeped, the clock reverted back to 0.00, and the trip reading also did this.

  One day it will start straight away, another it will turn over anywhere between 3 or five times to more than 10.There is no pattern. it was worse durung the very cold weather, but the problem is also happeing now. The battery has been tested and is fine, the local garage had it yesterday and said that two glow plugs came up on the dignostics, so they replaced them, still is not sorted though. Any ideas??

  Due to a mishap and without comprehensive insurance I have rebuilt my Kawasaki bike ZX12R Model A1. It's now running beautifully BUT the battery is not charging.  It holds a charge and will jump start.  A lot of the parts I bought were 2nd hand, but I could not get a generator for this model so fitted a generator, alternator and alternator cover form a later model - Model B.
• Toyota Avensis - car been sitting a dealer since last July 2 May 2011 (Forum)
  Hi all - I'm interested in a car that is at a local dealer - it is good value - but the only downside is that it is has been sitting on the forecourt since last July. Would you be worried about this? It needs a new battery which I have figured into the price and am going to get it inspected by someone who knows what they are doing. The brake discs are rusted, but the price is good. What do you think? The dealer is keen to move it on and I'd prefer a car that was cheaper - one that I'd get the work on it, knowing it had been done.

  Any Ideas as to how on earth I might be able to get my bonnet open!? I can't even drive the car to the garage as the battery is disconnected as I dont drive it very often, Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

  I have had the glow plugs changed and still no luck. It will bump start and jump start eventualy, the battery has also been checked and that is ok too. the last time it started there was thick black smoke coming out of the exhaust, could this be a clue? once car has been started it runs fine and will start for the day but the next day it turns over but does not start. please any suggestions would be great :0) xxxxxxxx

  Hi all new here, Got a problem with my vectra it was running fine and now it wont start i have a full tank of diesel and  battery ok.I have checked for fuel to injectors. When i try to start it, it just turns over but then tries to fire but just wont catch. i have had the rac to with diagnostics and it came up with camshaft position fault at bank 1 or single sensor error code P0340 & P1222 they told me the injector pump was the fault so i have had that checked and everything is ok with it.i have also had new leakoff pipes on.

  please can you help me. i recently bought a 99 vectra sri with a broken key fob( battery compartment missing). so i have to open and close with the key.this makes the alarm go off everytime .i have been in touch with vauxhall and they want nearly 100.00 pounds to supply,and reprogramme fob (i also have none of the security codes that they need so another 20 for that).i have tried syncing another random fob to the car but nothing happened.can you please tell me if there is another way to either stop alarm until i can get to vauxhall or if i really need their help anyway
