  • 306 HDI 90 T reg - ECU/Imobilisor?? 30 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I towed it 1st garage who tried a new ignition aerial with no luck, refitted the original and said take it to better equiped garage. 3. 2nd garage removed ECU and sent away to Bosch for diagnostics which reported back saying ECU needs repair to fuel pump, however they can't do anything as secondary fault reported which might be imobilisor. 2nd garage thought car was imobilised due to 1st garage 'playing around' with ignition aerial. As 2nd garage are not Peugeot dealers they could not reset the imobilkos. There is no Peugeot dealer in the Shetland Islands where I live, and so I was advised to send car on ferry to Abderdeen to nearest dealer. This was done at cost of £300!

Nissan Quashqai - Felt too big inside, rear quarter vision not good. Honda Civic, Spoiler across back window spoils rear view. Peugeot 2008- Light and airy, good boot size. Toyota Auris Estate - Not sure about this one  Ford Focus - Comfortable, with easy controls, good views.  Vauxhall Astra - Similar to existing car just updated, but still on list.
  • Any - Cars you regret buying 6 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Over the past 50+ years I've bought British, French, Italian, German, Swedish and Japanese cars - some new or nearly new and others second hand (memorably a VW Beetle that I kept the doors shut with a piece a rope pulling the driver & passenger doors towards each other! Most have been reliable (exceptions were Peugeot and other VWs) but I can't think of any cars that I regretted buying / owning at the time. So - does anyone admit to making a disastrous buying choice, or do we all choose to see only the best in our vehicles - as of course we do in our partners?
  • Honda Jazz - Uncomfortable/Unsafe Driving Positions 20 Jul 2021 (Forum)
I just cannot find a comfortable position and am forced to drive with my left arm only which is unsafe. I don't have the problem when I was driving other makes (Peugeot/Citroen/Volvo). Its just seems to be with MY car (which was originally my ex-wife's car). Any suggestions?
  • this is where i need the help - new car help needed 7 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Hi All, hope your 2020 is finally calming down. I need help to choose a good reliable car. I currently drive a Peugeot 308 1.6lt diesel and I want to stick with the diesel models. I have 1500 to spend atm and with the repairs i need on the 308 i might as well get a new car. So my question, what car can I get with a reliable largish engine for £1500-£2000, whats best to avoid and whats best to look for. i have a Honda Civic 2.2 in mind but i keep reading about bad clutch and it costs a lot to fix.

  • Winners and Losers - Crash protection 26 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Interestingly he drives a Saab saloon but years ago many of his colleagues drove Lada Riva , again rear wheel drive cars which have the longitudal strength needed to to align the gearbox with the rear axle. He remembers vividly a MB slicing through a peugeot 405 with the worst outcome for all except the MB occupants. Another hazard is modern A/C refridgerant which is flammable, petrol cars as opposed to diesel and hybrid cars which cause problems when they catch fire?
  • Van suggestion 23 Oct 2019 (Forum)
So with the low milage driven it needs to be a cheap run around and definitely no dpf cos based on the shoter runs it will block up. Im looking at under £2k Im thinking Transit connect, peugeot partner/berlingo or Renault kangoo (just cant decide) Im ruling out fiat amd vauxhall. And sadly ruling out caddy cos too expensive to buy and to repair   Can anyone share info on the vans that can help me to decide.
  • Best car for dog! 30 Aug 2015 (Forum)
I don't want a huge car and I have a Fiat Punto at the moment. I have looked at a Kia Venga, Hyundai ix20, Ford B-max, Vauxhall Mokka and a Peugeot 2008. The only thing I can really think might be suitable is maybe a Renault Kangoo? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance :)
  • Mercedes citan - Mercedes Citan Combi passenger vehicle UK? 26 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Since Renault pulled the kangoo, the choice has been limited to a fiat doblo, citroen berlingo multispace or the peugeot partner tepee. It appears GM have decided not to bring the Vauxhall combo combi passenger car to the UK which is soled on mainland europe as a Opel Combo Combi passenger car. We are in the market to buy 2 of these vehicles and noticed Nissan sell the NV200 as a passenger car.
  • DFSK Loadhopper - Chinese cars, now Chinese vans 8 May 2012 (Forum)
I seem like I am asking alot this past day regarding vehicles, but the business would benefit from at least 1 slim van, this really fits the bill. I looked at a Nissan NV200 instead of another Peugeot Partner or Citroen Berlingo, but the NV200 is more akin to the Toyota Hiace and the list price is expensive for what it is. Again, any advice welcome.

  • What Car 3K Max? 9 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, i'm looking for help on finding a different car to what i have, i currently drive a 1998 Peugeot 306 D Turbo S, 45MPG but is too small and i want something with a bit more power but that does not eat up the MPG and simlar to what i get now I'm haveing a nighmare, i would like a MG ZT CDti Auto (no DMF & clutch issues to worry about) , but finding one with resonable milage and good condition seems very hard if not impossible), so i turned to a MG ZT 190 with LPG, but insurance is near enough nearly a 1K!
  • Skoda Octavia? - What 4X4 13 Jun 2010 (Forum)
We change car about every five years, and the time has come, I'm afraid :-( We've had Peugeot diesel estates for the past 15 years - a 405, a 406 and a 307SW - and we've been happy with them.  We buy new or nearly new. However, we live in the country, and last winter's big freeze was a major problem - we were practically immobilised for a month!
  • Ebay-Cheap HDI tuning chips, avoid or good? 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
They all offer an item which seems to clip in line with your diesel HDi common rail injector, and claim to take most Peugeot Citroen (and BMW, and Ford HDi's) 110hp HDi up to 130hp, for somewhere in the region of £85-£100. Anyone got any experience of these? Here is a link to several on Ebay now, under search term 'HDI tuning Citroen'.
