  • Parking lights, battery life 15 Jul 2006 (Forum)
How long do you think you can leave parking lights on without discharging the battery to the point of not starting? They only power the sidelights don't they? I'd imagine it would last a week or so!
  • Nissan Terrano II (1993 - 2005) - 1998 2.7TD - Battery Drain 23 Aug 2010 (Forum)
My wife runs a 1998 Nissan Terrano, 2.7 turbo diesel. Had the car for just over 3.5 years and in the that time have had several problems with flat batteries and hence non-starting. 2 new batteries have been fitted and 2 home start call-outs required. Flat batteries had been put down to short journeys ? school run, 6 mile round trip. The last battery (Jan 04) was heavy duty.

  • Focus flat battery 27 Feb 2022 (Forum)
When fitting it later in the morning, I noticed the old one was a Ford brand, I don't recall replacing the battery and don't think I would have paid dealer prices either so assume it was the same one it left the factory with in November 2006. Seems highly impressive to me. Can anyone better that life for a battery?
  • Ford Fiesta - Battery draining 24 Jan 2022 (Forum)
Hi everyone. Really need some help with my 18 year old sons car. The battery light keeps coming on while driving, then the ABS light. He pulls over and switches the engine off and then the car will not restart to the point of no hazard lights or anything. As the battery is driving it looks like he is having a disco as the whole dash starts flashing until it is complete dead.
  • Peugeot 308 SW - Battery completely dead 12 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Unlocked my car with the remote, got in, turned the ignition - one click and - not even a flicker of power. No interior light, no radio, definitely no engine turn. My question is, if this is the battery, wouldn't it have died a slower death - ie; given me lighting etc but not enough juice for the engine? Or is this a bad cell in the battery? Or is it something else? For a car that has not cost me very much in upkeep during nearly ten years, this will be the third battery.

  • Citroen Xsara 1.4 2003 - 2003 Xsara Battery Warning and Now Won't Start 6 Jun 2016 (Forum)

  • EC Sealed Battery Policy 2 Mar 2015 (Forum)
The EU Directive - The Batteries and Accumulators Directive 2006/66/EC and The UK Statutory Instrument - 2008 No. 2164 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION The Batteries and Accumulators (Placing on the Market) Regulations 2008 both mention Automotive batteries which are unsealed and on-sale and not in a way which prohibits them and as the latter Statutory Instrument only came into force two months ago, it sounds unlikely they are banned to me but I agree they seemed to have disappeared from the shops..

  • Ford Mondeo ghia tdci 2007 - does Ford mondeo 2007 need silver calcium battery 19 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Does Ford mondeo need silver calcium, our Mechanic replaced with lead acid battery and after 24 hours it had drained again, would it drain this quickly due to incorrect type? Mechanic tested the alternator which seemed fine, we have bought a silver calcium battery today and installed at half 2 today fired up straight away, just a waiting game now to see if it is more than the battery I think or is it definitely something more?
  • Battery conditioner or plain old battery charger? 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I've recently bought a classic car and don't plan to take it on winter roads. I've been looking at one of those battery conditioner/chargers (CTEK make a range) and a search here reveals nothing. Any experience/advice about these things? I thought I could just bung my 30 year old basic charger on from time to time but it could be I am behind the times.

  • Citroen C3 (2002 - 2009) - 03 1.4 wont start, battery warning light flashing 22 Apr 2011 (Forum)
My wifes C3 1.4 petrol wont start following the battery dying a couple of weeks ago. Since then i have replaced the battery and coil pack. The car currently shows as in "eco mode" and the battery warning light keeps flashing. I have scoured the net for a clue to what the issue is, even had a friend in a garage put it on his diagnostic computer but no faults showed up. i have tried to reset the BSI following the instructions found on the net but still no difference. this really is winding me up now and any help would be appreciated.
  • General Question - Cheap battery diagnostic tester 4 Jan 2009 (Forum)
It's that time of year again!. It would be very useful if I could check the level of battery charge on my 2003 1.8 Mondeo without having to visit a battery specialist with clever and expensive equipment. Does anyone have positive experience of the small LED battery/alternator testers that cost less than £10.00, eg Rolson, Sealey, Draper.
  • SAAB 9-5 (1997 - 2009) - Battery dead for over 2 weeks - will it survive? 8 Jan 2008 (Forum)
As I was going away for christmas and new year, returning home late yesterday evening, today is the first chance I've had to get the battery on charge. Is it likely to survive, given that it is only two years old and a top-notch battery?

  • Peugeot 306 Battery Charging 28 Sep 2006 (Forum)
It's years since I have had to get involved with mundane things like battery charging. You know the story...car 2 - 3 years old... it's time for a new one! Anyway, I am now the proud owner of a 1997 non-turbo diesel and a lovely car it is too. It seems a bit slow to turn over when starting and I'm thinking that owing to it's short journeys, the battery might want a charge.
