  All London taxis to be zero-emissions capable from 2018 17 Jan 2014 (News)
  The news was confirmed by Boris Johnson at an event in London at which several companies previewed their plans to produce vehicles to fit the requirements. Frazer-Nash, Nissan, Karsan, London Taxi Company and Mercedes-Benz were present. As well as being zero-emissions capable, the vehicles under development will all need to meet the traditional London taxi requirements, including a tight turning circle of 8m and wheelchair access.

  New car sales reach five year high in September 4 Oct 2013 (News)
  The SMMT claims that one in seven of new cars sold are made in the UK, with both the Vauxhall Astra and Nissan Qashqai holding positions in the top 10. Private registrations were up 17 per cent on 2012, although fleet sales witnessed a modest five per cent rise on 2012. September is traditionally a popular time in the UK for new car sales as it’s one of the two months when a new registration number is issued.

  The most popular model overall was the Ford Fiesta , which has held the top spot all year. MPVs and crossovers are increasing in popularity, the most popular of which is the Nissan Qashqai, having sold 3,133 units in April. Fleet demand remains strong – up 6.5% in April.
