Any - Gadgets on some new cars 24 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Just had a week with a brand new Volvo XC90 as a courtesy car. The number of driving aids is mindblowing from blind spot assistance, all round cameras, automatic parking...daren't try that...mirrors that dip themselves, headlights turning round corners, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, do we need all this stuff? Well as a confirmed Luddite I now have have to say these aids are very useful and have somewhat changed my mind. -
Land Rover Discovery 2 - Problems to look out for 21 Feb 2016 (Forum)
My intention is to buy the most basic model I can because they don't have either roof rails or sun roofs, both of which are known to cause major leaks. I don't know whether to go for an automatic or manual so please tell me your thoughts. Any help and knowledge will be gratefully received. Many thanks -
Braking with a TC auto gearbox 29 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I'm reluctant to use the latter because I don't understand the long term consequences for the gearbox of doing it. It's the first automatic car I've owned and would appreciate some advice. -
Ford Focus Estate - Is Ford's Ecoboost really that economical? 5 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I have just done a 1371m 169.12litre brim to brim calculation (36.85mpg) for our 15yr old 1.6 Zetec petrol 110,000m automatic estate which rarely does long motorway journeys. On this website's real MPG section there is 35.3mpg for a 2014 1.0 Eco 125 estate and 42.7 for a 1.0 100 saloon. Admittedly we are not fast drivers and I 'ride and glide' quite frequently when I drive it, but I contend that the ecoboost is not as economical as it's cracked up to be. -

Toyota Hilux - Buying advice required 28 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Main dealers seem to have the best examples but adding VAT to the advertised price makes them seriously expensive. Seem to think HJ advised against the automatic version but they go for less money. Any idea why.? Grateful for your experiences and advice -
Seat Leon SE TDI S-A 1.6 diesel with DSG gearbox - Seat Leon first service - when? 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
I recently bought a Seat Leon 1.6 diesel automatic from a Seat dealer. It is 11 months old (latest model) and has only covered 2,600 miles. Should I have it serviced in a month's time, or should I wait until it has covered more miles? It was initially registered to Seat UK and hardly covered any mileage with them. -
Auto for £1000 and under with room for dogs. 30 Jul 2013 (Forum)
She currently has a Pajero 2.8 SWB but we can't afford to run it as the MPG is awful. I need an automatic for around £800 that has space for her to chuck the 3 dogs in the back. So far I have been looking online at Ford Focus Estate 1.6, Honda CRV, Vitara. Can anyone recommend anything please? I am a total numpty when it comes to car knowledge. -
All cars - AA renewal fees 25 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Why do the AA increase renewal fees on automatic renewal then back down immediately when challenged. Every year they quote something like double to renew, and when I check internet price and ring to say I'm leaving, they immediately offer me the internet price. -

Peugeot 807 - Peugeot 807 diesel poor mpg 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently bought a diesel Peugeot 807 because I couldn't afford to run my very juicy 2 litre petrol automatic Mondeo. But guess what?! The Peugeot is just as bad!! I'm getting 24mpg, but apparantly I should be getting about 40! I've had a look round the internet and a few things to check seem to be air filter, tyre pressures and timing, but would any of these really cause such a dramatically poor mpg? -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 04 1.8 Electric handbrake 13 Oct 2009 (Forum)
My wife can't cope with the automatic handbrake on her C Max Ghia and has difficulty using it for hill starts She wants to change the car even though she loves everything except the handbrake. Does anybody know if I can change the brake to manual by disconnecting the electrics, fitting a "normal" handbrake lever and changing the centre console -hopefully from the dismantlers. -
