Volvo XC60(2015) - Another service scam? 9 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Hi John, My Volvo XC60 has just had it,s second year service with only 9,400 miles on the clock. I have a 5 year pre-paid service plan; so was surprised to receive a phone call to say the brake fluid needed changing at a cost of £90.00 and did I wish to proceed. -
Legal Advice required 12 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I'll wait for the financial ombudsman to finish the report, but legally where do I go next? Is a small claims court enough? The ££££s it's cost me along with supplying a courtesy car with a bald tyre and blaming me for the crack...this is more than a small claims court, or is it? Thanks Chris -
Citroen C1 - Misdescribed car sale 13 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I did some research and then called the dealer to explain that the item is misdecribed under SoGA 1979 (s.13 and s.14) and have requested a full refund. He is refusing at this point. He's offered to find me one with AC within 8 weeks and will do a swap but I'd rather have a full refund. I didn't buy it through ebay but have all of the receipts available for proof of sale etc. -

Audi A3 - Advice on buying Automatics 28 Aug 2010 (Forum)
The next one he says very directly, MUST be a full auto (I only have license for automatic) I keep seeing A3’s which I love and know are historically, reliable cars that aren’t flimsily built but I’ve clocked about 20 of them, all of which have various names such as Tip Auto, S-Tronic, Manutronic etc. -
SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - 55000 mile report 22 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Front wheel bearing failure Remote locking failed Water pump leak Coolant leak from plastic coolant port Boot lock failed Coil pack failure Exhaust gas recirculation valve failure Catalyst broke up - this was a £700 fix Further coolant leak, source unknown. A common response when discussing the issues with the Altea was ?ahhh that?s because it?s a cheap VW? but the only Seat specific part that failed was the boot lock, everything else was generic VAG. Do VAG have a crystal ball which decides which brand their parts are sent to or do all VAG drivers have to deal with this number of failures? -
Insurance question - second car 26 Feb 2009 (Forum)
There is method in this madness, as I want to put it back on the road anyway as a smoker. The other half?s Pug 206 needs to go but she can?t be without a car. So the plan is put the Micra back on the road, flog the Pug, she gets my Punto for a couple of months while I kick about in the Micra, then buy a real car. -
The ignorance of some drivers! 3 Sep 2007 (Forum)
i could see him and his ugly missus chittering on about it when i eventually got past, couple in their late 50's early 60's.......i'll admit to being most unproffessional with my hand signals when he gave me a load of main beam......why oh why does it bother him what i'm up to? old twit doesn't even realise it's him committing the offence of 'driving without reasonable consideration for other road users' s3 RTA 1988 there i feel better now -
Bio Fuel - Jeep Cherokee 2.8 diesel 6 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi Is anyone here a wiz on bio fuel? I have a customer with a Jeep Cherokee 2.8 diesel. Jeep says it?s only allowed to run on 5% bio fuel so really that means it can?t use it. Anyway this customer has been using it anyway and had no running problems with it until it started making a noise then broke down. -
rear end shunts 28 Sep 2004 (Forum)
No doubt she's still driving around blissfully unaware - or perhaps she has Cyclops Syndrome, that nasty disease that?s on the rise again now it's winter, and it?s a particularly nasty dose of it. (Oh, and another thing: I?ve just swapped jobs and my occasional foray into the city centre has become a daily two-way journey. -
Volvo V70 D5 - update 13 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Just a quick update for all those who kindly replied to my query regarding opinions on Volvo V70's. I had a quick go in a D5 today thanks to my kindly local dealer. Not a V70 but a S60 Auto which is basically the same car. Pretty impressed with the engine - nice and smooth and good performance. Only really a trace of diesel noise at idle when cold but on the move the only difference with petrol was the nice load of torque just where you need it. -
Ban for Speeding not notified 19 Jun 2003 (Forum)
d like to get some first thoughts from Backroomers. In May 2002 (last year) my son was stopped by a patrol on the M23 doing over 100mph. (Don?t let?s have a debate on the rights and wrongs of this :-). He knows he was in the wrong and it's certainly slowed him down) He didn?t have his licence with him at the time but was told he may be reported. -
Dumb Accident 20 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I stopped but to my amazement the other party did not appear to react until quite late when the front of the car dipped and the noise of locked up wheels. Unfortunately he failed to stop by a few cm’s and collided with the corner of my front N/S wing. Now the rub is that when I reversed my car to take it to a safe place is was clear that the impact was in the middle of his Nissan Primera Bumper/Grill/Number plate and the point on contact, not forgetting I was stationary was only 30 odd cm’s from the white line, thus he had both O/S wheels on my side of the road. -
Diesel - The clean alternative? 15 Sep 2002 (Forum)
The findings of the Health Assessment Document for Diesel Engine Exhaust, released last week by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, were revealed as latest figures showed UK fleet diesel sales had risen by 47.2% so far this year. Its authors stress their research is based on mid-1990's diesels, but warn they are not certain whether engine and fuel improvements in recent years will have done enough to eliminate the risks they have uncovered. A spokesman said: 'The health hazard conclusions are applicable to engines currently in use, which include many older engines. -

Volvo XC60 - Tyre costs and speed rating 20 Nov 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, I had a tip-off that national were offering 20% discount on four new tyres or 10% on two, so I just had a look some Michelin crossclimate 2’s for my Volvo which are due a change. Mine are 235/55 R19 V-rated and £221.99 before discount (I am sure they were cheaper last month before the current discount) but the odd thing is, the same tyre when W-rated is £209.99. -
Kia Proceed 1.5T GDi GT-Line 2023 - Kia Proceed - Front Parking Sensors 14 May 2023 (Forum)
Hi; just had front sensors fitted by Kia before taking delivery of car (only factory fitted to GT-Line S model) & just need to confirm / query how they are supposed to work. I have front sensors which beep loudly whenever the engine is started, touch to switch beeping / sensing off, then need touch again whenever front sensor is required.
