  Clutching at straws I wondered if the spinning ignition was a security feature as it thinks the wrong key has been inserted? (Never tried the wrong key in an Audi ignition so dont know what it does). Any ideas how much for a new ignition barrel? Will a VAG specialist independant be able to code it to the car or is it main dealer only? Just tried to ring the local VAG indie but unsurprisingly they are not working today.

  I've got bored with my Audi A4. A string of minor incidents, two punctures, the quarter panel being keyed and the nearside wing being dented in a pub carpar in the feww weeks that I've been driving it have made me realise its not the car for me.

  I do around 40K miles a year, get paid by the mile. So, the more mpg I get, the richer I get. I drive a lot at night and love the bmw and audi red dials inside Don?t want a saloon in audi though. Wife is telling me to get mondeo, but I have had these for 8 years on and off. (company cars) I just cant make my mind up. So I have a few choices. 1. bmw 525/530 tds saloon around £13K for a 2000/y 2. audi a4 avant 2000 around £11K but reminds me of passat 3. mg zt-t 130 53 plate £13K 10 miles 4.

  I think I know the answer to this, but I'd be interested to hear a proper diagnosis. My old Audi has been given a holiday while I dodge the summer showers on my motorbike, and I was attempting to keep it from neglect by starting it up and running for a while every couple of weeks. This was not quite enough to keep the battery (not the original!)

  A firm bang on the dashboard over the speedo area would stop the engine's miss and settle the speedo at the same time. A local audi mechanic said there is no connection between the speedo and the engine's performance but I know I wasn't imaginaning it!!! Subsequently I eventually fitted a second hand speedo which solved both the afore mentioned problems confirming to me that there must be some kind of connection between speedo and engine (perhaps through the engine management?

  There is a way of reseting the service indicator on VW's using the ignition and turn signals but I have forgotten how. Can someone remind me please, its the same for all Audi & Volkswagons thanks Stuart

  Mate of mine's just bought an Audi A4 1.8 saloon with 75k on the clock on an N plate. Immaculate inside and almost outside. No squeaks, rattles or wobbles at all ! The price £1000 ! Is that a good deal or what ?
