  • "Stick with same brand of premium diesel" 26 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Second, one premium may be better in one area that another, so alternating would give the best of both worlds. Unfortunately ALL the premium fuel's sites use weasel words such as "may help" or "could..." with no definite promise being made. Cheers DrTeeth
  • Ford Mondeo Estate - Ford Mondeo Air Con - sensitivity 25 Jun 2018 (Forum)
The air con in my 2015 Mondeo Estate seems to be over sensitive to temperature changes and effectively seems to try to keep the temperature exactly as set, blowing hot and cold alternately.  This almost continuous operation is frustrating and unnecessary and probably doesn't help fuel cnsumption.  My previous Ford Focus cars did not work in this manner, requiring a degree or two of temperature change before reacting. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve this?
  • Ford Ka 2008 MY - Repairing rust around the petrol filler cap 14 Jul 2017 (Forum)
The Mrs has a 58 reg Ka with the usual rust around the fuel filler cap. I've been told that a kit is available so that a qualified person can effectively cut out the rusty bit and replace it with new. Has anyone had this done, on a Ka or any other make of motor?

  • Any - Have we fallen out of love with the car? 25 Jan 2016 (Forum)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-35242514 I can think of lots of reasons - there are just too many regulations, and too much congestion - driving is hard work these days, there are too many out there ready to pounce for even the tiniest of infringement finding somewehre to park can be a nightmare public transport is much improved and often a good alternative cost (purchase price fuel, maintenance, insurance for instance)
  • Toyota Avensis Parking brake 22 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Also on flat. I must admit the battery was totally dead and needed jumping to get going. Jumping at fuel station and after a stall. Had a few warning lights most of journey. I imagine the Alternator could not keep up with the Electrical system demands. Also when stopped back at the Dealer the electric parking brake said in-operable any thoughts ?

  • Audi A3 - REAL MPG 10 Feb 2015 (Forum)
The figure based on the last 6 tankfuls was 59.04mpg, as calculated by the mileage divided by the fuel used, ie the accurate way.  Significantly, the average indicated by the on-board computer for the same period was 67.5mpg, some 8 mpg better.   I wonder how many people when entering their mpg use the actual figure as opposed to the computer one, and if other computers are as optomistic as mine.
  • 2012 VW T5 California - The Curse of a Diesal Particulate Filter 14 Sep 2014 (Forum)
The actions recommended in the handbook are not clearing the problem for very long, last time less than a week from it being cleared by the garage. so several questions: Have VW recognised this problem and come up with some longer term solutions?  Is there an approved fuel additive I could use? What is the future for DPF are changes on the way?
  • Vauxhall Zafira - Garage can't find out what is wrong with my car 12 Aug 2014 (Forum)
AA man suspected an injector had gone (it is a diesel) as there is white smoke being emitted from the exhaust and it sounds like it is mis firing. The garage is now saying it could be a fuel pump. These are really expensive (I think) and was wondering if anyone else has any ideas. There are no warning lights on. Cheers

  • Highest real MPG (NOT as %) 24 Jun 2013 (Forum)
The current 'Top Five Best Performers' list is of rather limited use since it tells us how accurate manufactur data is, but when buying a car what you REALLY want to know is which car will offer the best fuel economy...
  • BMW E91 - 320i M Sport - MOT emissions failure at on 14,700 miles from new 27 May 2013 (Forum)
I know that as a retired person, I now only undertake short journeys, but having just failed the MOT emissions test at only 14,700 miles from new, can someone please suggest a suitable fuel additive I could use to help prevent the build up of carbon on the catalyst and get me through the MOT emissions test ? Any advice would be much appreciated.
  • Diesel or Petrol? 31 Mar 2013 (Forum)
In September I will be starting Uni, 11 miles each way on the motorway. I've been looking at Diesels for the fuel economy but now I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. Do I need a Diesel or Petrol? Any pointers as to which make/model to get considering an estate for boot space? Thanks to all who take the time to reply.
  • Vauxhall Astra 07 1.9 CDTI SRI 16v - Dash/Trp Computer Display changes 4 Jan 2013 (Forum)
The trip computer that can be accessed on the main central console has reverted to displaying the stopwatch. Beforehand I had it set to miles remaining to fuel fill up which proved very handy. I'm not sure how to access the computer and how to make the changes, getting rid of the stopwatch function.   Can anyone help me with how to find a step by step guide to the computer functions?
