From today's Times 1 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Motorists are to be directed to drive on the hard shoulder at peak times to relieve congestion. Sensors in the road will detect jams building up and gantries will flash intructions. The idea is to be tested on a stretch of the M42 near Birmingham. -

Just for fun II 1 Mar 2020 (Forum)
It certainly wouldn’t be Lancia who’ve built some terrible rot bucket rubbish over the years with only a few high spots early doors and even fewer post Fiat. I don’t even rate the Delta Integrale which was hugely expensive, very fragile, had a terrible driving position, a nasty gearbox and was left hand drive only. Fairly easy question to answer for me and I don’t head in the direction most would expect. No it’s not Honda, Mazda or Toyota, though I do rate much of what Mazda in particular have done over the years. -
Purchased 2 new cars today 19 Apr 2018 (Forum)
The car needed to be a petrol as they are just as likely to be used to ferrying people to and from a train station 1 mile away as they are to go for a long drive down the A14. It also needs to be OK to drive as on the odd occasion I have staff driving upto the highlands and I want them to be comfortable. I considered lots of cars before I got to my short list - vauxhall astra hatchback - good price (relativly speaking) but to many faults and problems reported by owners. -

Unclaimed test pass - Legal questions 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Are there any legal bods here who can help me with a complicated query? I passed my first driving test in South Africa in 1983 and subsequently moved back to the UK. At that time SA licences couldn't be transferred and so I took and passed a UK driving test in 1988. I then moved to Germany from where I sent off my pass certificate to obtain my full licence which I never received and, because I was out of the country, never actually followed up. -
Cape Town driving- The Sun newspaper 3 Mar 2004 (Forum)
s back to the reality of traffic jams, road rage and a nanny state. So why is South Africa so good for a driving enthusiast? ---------- Too many Black Labels on your trip down here, lass. quote: ------------- For a start, they drive on the correct side of the road just like we do. ------------ A most tenuous of positive aspects.
