What's with this craze for driving round in town with front fog lamps on - its not only irrititating it down right dangerous on wet night - can some one tell me why you do it?

It's even worse on a rainy night when they have rear fog lights on and you are behind one.

When we were young we did it because
(a) It enabled us poseurs to recognise another of our ilk approaching. (b) We liked to openly display our defiance of authority. (c) It looked cool. (d) Nobody told us that they were fog lamps ~ we thought that they were fashion accessories.

As we've got older we continue to do it because (e) We can't find the on/off switch. (f) Now that we suffer from cataracts we think that it is permanently foggy. (g) We're trying to recapture our youth.

I'm sure that we have other reasons as well, but a failing memory makes them difficult to remember. So we just do it regardless.
