  • Seller Erase Error Codes before test drive? 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I dont see the point of the buyer taking a diagnostic code reader to the car that he/she will view/test drive when the seller can erase the codes from the car before the buyer turns up. Can a test drive bring the error code/s back? If not how does the buyer is sure that the car is error free before spending lots of money? Do all Error Codes Register a orange enging light on dashboard or is there some error codes that do not show up on dahboard but instead only on the diagnostic code reader?
  • Porsche Macan - not sure which to get 1 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Did not like to see the extra pipe under  the fuel filter cap which has to be charged up every 12K miles and costing £125 each time though.  Anyway think petrol S is the best way to go. Do you think the petrol turbo costing another 9K is cost effective considering the petrol consumption is not really that different between either version and is in the same tax bracket re CO2 and considering future depreciation which would be best do you think?

  • Big car luxury in a small car and on a budget. 7 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Hi All, I'm looking for big car luxury in a small car and on a budget. Does such a thing exist? I need to economise and i've had to sell my S-Class. I only do about 6,000 miles a year most of which is motorway driving. Ideally it should have 4 seats but as the rears will only ever be used by my kids it doesn't matter if it's a bit cramped in the  back :-) I only have a budget of about £3,000 and was wondering what is out there that is comfortable with a ride that easily soaks up the  bumps from our potholed roads, is pretty quiet at motorway speeds, will do 0-60 in less than 10 seconds and will be reliable and cheap to run.
  • Why do some autos roll back on a hill? 11 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Some of them will hold the car still on a hill at idle, but other's won't. Examples: Mercedes W202 2.4 V6 holds, Jaguar S-Type 3.0 v6 holds, Honda CRV 2.0 I4 rolls back. With the cars that hold, it's not a mechnical holding device because if the hill is steep enough it will roll back, but it will hold still on moderate hills.
  • 2003 Ford Focus 1600cc - Focus with a few "Quirks" 6 Oct 2014 (Forum)
(As you lovely people are top-notch with your car knowledge) My boss has had the Focus garaged for quite a while now, as it''s suffering from a fault where the car thinks that it's overheating, and then goes into "Go-slow mode" (as she put it) and then won't go over 30 mph. She said that it's quite a common fault, but I can't seem to find anything about it online.

  • Mercedes-Benz A-Class LWB - Noise from heating/ventilation system 6 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Since it's not causing a problem, might there be a way of stopping the noise - eg remove a fuse, cut a wire etc?  Without removing the dash! Car is 12 yo. Not worth spending £100's.
  • MGA 1956 LHD - MGA Chassis number info 1 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hello MGA owners, I am looking to buy an MGA and have seen one with many pics. I had four many years ago in the 70's.   The car in question is a 1956 LHD and lives in the US.  One of the chassis plates is perplexing me. Its reads as follows - I may have misread the info as some of the characters are rather faded, but does anyone have any info, please.
  • Hyundai i20 - Winter tyres/steel wheels 9 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I'm trying to buy a set of winter tyres and steel wheels. I knew my i20's tyres were 185/60/R15s but had problems finding out about the wheel specs. The owners manual was no use and have not heard from Hyundai Customer Services regarding this. I have been looking in the meantime and found a set of steel wheels on mytyres.co.uk but again having some problems.
  • citroen zsara picasso 1.8 petrol 03 - interchangeable car parts 9 Jan 2014 (Forum)
hi, i`m wondering if there`s a website that would tell me what cars use the same parts as mine. Basically i`m in need of a window regulator for a zsara picasso 1.8 petrol 03 and there aren`t any in my local breaker yards. I know from previous experience that picasso parts aren`t exclusive to citroen cars but I can`t exactly strip down every car till i find the same part.
  • uk car discount - any good? 24 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Hello, I'm wondering whether any forum users have had any experience with the above broker they'd be willing to share. I'm interested in the new Suzuki S Cross which uk-car-discount offer at a very substantial discount compared to dealers' list prices. However, there doesn't seem to be very much info about this broker, the most recent posts on this forum date from as far back as 2007.
  • BMW 330d (e90) - Car park liability 12 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Now history; have been going to said car park for years, and they have recently put in a manhole, around 300mm above the main entrance surrounded by tar and hgv kerbs, now as the left turn into the car park is on a small hill, my car being low, I never even noticed the new kerb area until bang. Now do the car park not have a duty of care to put a bollard/s in front of new area for visibility purposes. Do you think I could stick a letter into them to see if they accept liability? Cheers N
  • Mazda MX5 - Why such low MPG? 4 Sep 2013 (Forum)
We checked transmission efficiency at the Rototest website, shown as 88%, more or less average, any ideas as to why MX5's don't seem to be very frugal on petrol?
  • Which 7 Seater? 31 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Unfortunately my wife only has an auto license so it needs to be a petrol auto which limits us somewhat. If I'm talked out of the Renault then I'll be looking at the Ford Galaxy/S-Max/Grand C-Max or the Mazda Takara which seem to be the only alternatives in my price range Budget is about £8000 but I could stretch to £10000 if necessary

  • Mitsubishi Shogun - How do I disable the rear seatbelt force limiters 12 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I have recently bought an S reg mitsubishi shogun. When we went to put our child seat in we came across an issue with the rear seat belts. When they are fully extended, as you need to to put the child seat in, they have a type of friction on them when they recoil, to prevent snap-back.
  • Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - EPS warning light 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Yet another member of the EPS Club ! Recently bought a 2nd hand FSI S 1.6 (Jun 06) with 9,000 on the clock (an ex-mobility car) from a local (reputable) dealer in East Sussex. One month into use and apparently not covered by the dealer's 6 month's warranty, the EPS light goes on.
