I have become an unfortunate member of the now infamous ESP light staying on problem with my beloved Golf. My problem started mid August 2010. The ESP... -
End of lease problem 17 Jun 2020 (Forum)
This seems to be an attempt to cover losses they expect to make when sending the car to auction, not seen small print of the contract but he assures me it is their responsibility to collect the vehicle at lease end: it's their failure which caused the problem, why should he continue to pay for a car he can't use? -
Volkswagen - Delayed delivery/lead times on new VW models 31 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I am looking for feedback from any customers of VW who have had; A gesture of goodwill from VW UK to cover the addtional VAT for cars that should have been delivered in 2010? A loan car, or a contribution towards hire car charges? Any help would be appreciated, I can't get any sense from anyone so far, VW customer care don't seem to care and I have frustrated customers who just want to take delivery of their new cars. -
Could you recommend a used car for £6000? 19 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)
I have £6000 to spend on a used car. It should be 1.4 litre with a petrol engine, to cover about 7000 miles per year, mainly short 3-10 mile journeys and... -
Towed for being parked under a tree 27 Jul 2005 (Forum)
A large yellow notice was slapped on, requiring removal within 24 hours, and it was then towed. Indeed, when I collected the car, it was covered with bird droppings and bits of tree. Clearly I had parked under a tree with a bird's nest in it. So, on balance, is that a fair cop? The car had a fresh MOT and was insured (as the computer would no doubt have told them). -
any - Insurance renewals 30 Jan 2024 (Forum)
I put through both with MSE comparison site, and then phoned DL to see if there was any negotiation possible, i always try to be fair comparing apples with apples so ignored the ultra cheap quotes from the unknowns and the one company that one always hears bad reviews about re people being stung heavily for mid term changes etc. Anyway, we did some mild jiggery pokery with the cover, lowered the mileages slightly to what i'd put in the comparison site and removed the (automatic) business use that DL's standard comp policies come with, total excesses were either the same or within £50, protected policies with legal cover and basic courtesy car etc. -
LV Britannia Rescue 14 Nov 2023 (Forum)
The gist of it seems to be saying if one has a flat tyre, flat battery or siezed brakes while the car is 'at home,' dont phone us, use a webform to contact us and tell us what's wrong. Bear in mind, this applies to anyone with home start which is included in the comprehensive cover. So now I wonder just how long will one have to wait for acknowledgement and assistance when requested via a webform that will go to a mailbox for call centre staff to trawl through between actual breakdown calls? -

Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 2002 110 HDi - Leak of precious fuel... 23 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Before I go further is there any dangers in disconnecting this joint and perhaps using a fluid lock tight here to try and cure. This is definitely the source of leak. Additinally along the top of the rocker cover little pools of oil are collecting, above the cylinder head and above the injectors. Not really sure of the source of this? Could it be the rocker cover gasket needs renewing. Father has similar car with same oil collecting too and his has only 35K on clock. -
Mini TLC servicing - what is missed? 11 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The piston seizing will allow the BMW dealer to get the disk done under the remainder of the warranty - all 10 days of it! If the dealer missed the brakes what else did they ignore? Does the BMW TLC cover actually deter dealers from actually servicing the car as they get less from BMW than the £85 + / hour they charge a punter? -
Vectra DTI fuel problem 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
There was a post from Vectra a while ago who had similar problems and cured it eventually by having the spill off pipes replaced and they only cost £6.00 and 15 minutes to replace. Looking at these pipes they disappear under the camshaft cover so I presume this has to be removed. Has anyone out there had experience of changing them. Does the cover have to come off and is there any other likely reason for my problem? alvin -
Lexus NX - Dilemma 2 Mar 2024 (Forum)
Hi, I own a 2016 Lexus NX full service history so has another couple of years warranty cover. I’m now in my 70’s and thinking whether to keep the car beyond warranty or sell it and buy a 2 year old Toyota Yaris Cross that will have another 8 years warranty's. With the cheaper service plan, insurance and more miles per gallon it would save me £118 a month that would allow me to borrow the difference (with a little extra per month). -
na - on road / off road? 15 Nov 2021 (Forum)
I now live in a block of flats and there was a line similar to the one at the old property in front of nine parking bays until they resurfaced the road and covered this line over. Was my father correct in saying that this line depicts off road? -
Vauxhall Astra GTC 2013 - 2013 Astra 2.0 cdti low oil pressure 4 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Before I contact the dealer, as it way under 6 months old, I'm fearing this will be just classed as fair wear and tear, which won't be covered. What are the thoughts of the forum experts please? Thanks in advance. -
Peugeot 208 - Help needed please!! 27 Sep 2018 (Forum)
When my Peugeot 208 was last MOT’d we were told by the time it’s next one came it would probably fail on something to do with leaking exhaust fumes (or something like that) - the mechanic touched this cylinder shaped object on the underside of the car, which was a sort of rough material on the outside (vague, I apologise!) and demonstrated on how his hand was covered in black to prove his point. Does anyone know what this is??? The next MOT is due in January and we’re just trying to be as prepared as we can. ??
