Manual electrics 4 Apr 2013 (Forum)
However, I've always driven a manual and want to stay with a stick shift. The fuel savings versus automatic are particularly appreciated when I have the horse box in tow. Something like a G-Wiz or Twizy would be fine, but when are the manufacturers going to get the message that not all of us are fans of two-pedalled motoring? -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol - Fuel filling problem 14 Dec 2012 (Forum)
My girlfriend drives a Vauxhall Astra V reg and she has had this problem since she had the car. If the tank is filled up, the garage pump doesn't automatically stop when the tank is full, instead floods the forecourt. Does anyone have an idea as to what the cause could be? I'm suspecting its something to do with a gasket or grommet that has perished, but I don't know Vauxhall cars. -
Mitsibushi lancer 1.6 or Mitsibushi lanc2.0 sport? 29 May 2012 (Forum)
Has anyone owned either of these or heard they are to be avoided. I'm looking at 2 of these both automatics and estates ones a 2005 and the other a 2007, whilst not that fuel effecient, they aren't much worse than the Honda Civic and I would get a newer car with less miles for my money? I've heard the 1.6 is a bit underpowered to pull the body size? -
2lt. petrol qashqai acenta auto. - Delivery of Qashqai to Spain 30 Mar 2012 (Forum)
The garage has been very slow in giving me any timescale for delivery. Is there any difficulty or delay in these cars coming to Spain. They say that automatics are slow on the production line. Can anyone offer info. on this matter. I'm really concerned because I've already given them my car as part exchange.(silly me) -
Brake lights on all the time 16 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Most off-putting as you approach as it makes you think there's a hazard/cutting up etc ahead. How can he have managed that?! Wiring may have gone awry but can you drive an automatic with the 'brake' still on? I reckoned it to be an auto C-class early 2000s. -
2006 renault laguna - 2006 Renault Laguna, Good or Bad!!! 6 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi I have found a 2006 renault laguna 2.0 petrol automatic for 3500 pounds What do you think, good or bad choice??? The car has 76.000 miles, full service history, recent cambelt change. I have heard bad stories about previous laguna but HJ states that the new model is much better. -
BMW 320d - DMF 10 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Does anyone know do 3 series diesel suffer from this? Does any manufacturer of diesels not suffer from this? I understand that automatics do not have them but I would prefer a manual gearbox. Any advice or info appreciated. -
AC-Delco Battery 17 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Went to get the Chevy out of the garage today for it's fortnightly run and the battery has decided to expire even though it's on a fully automatic charger. The battery is an AC-Delco 75-6YR which has side mounted terminals. I can order one from the US. for about $120 plus shipping but before I do, does anyone know where I can get a replacement or equivalent without paying the ridiculous markup GM UK. expect? -
Electric parking brakes and the driving test 3 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I'm sure I have read somewhere that an 'L' driver cannot take the DSA driving test in a car fitted with an 'automatic release' electric parking brake (eg some Renaults, Citroens, etc) because of the way in which these brakes simplify a hill start. You just press the pedal and go. I can find no reference to this on the DSA website, however. -
SAAB - SAAB "too much a man's car"... 16 Sep 2009 (Forum)
although my wife?s friend did not explain. I don't know what model she has but she is interested in the automatic version of mine, i30 Hyundai Comfort. In a similar size class, with not too much price variation, are Kia Cee?d, VW Golf, Ford Focus and Skoda Octavia. She would be more interested in reliability, comfort and ease of driving than performance. -
Renault Espace (2002 - ) - 05 2.0T sliding sunblind problem please help? 25 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi I just bought a 55 reg Espace with panoramic roof. The automatic sunblind on the inside has a problem where it does not open fully and when you close it, it hits the front and then goes back 9 inches or so. This was not a problem until I took it into a dealer to have the faulty ESP fixed. -

Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - Is buying a Vauxhall risky? 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Given the state of GM's finances, would buying a Vauxhall be a risk in any sense (e.g parts, re-sale etc etc)? I'm thinking about switching from my Saab 9-3 diesel (1.9 Tid 120) to an Astra 1.8 VVT Automatic, but I wondered whether sticking with a GM brand is a safe bet? Incidentally, any thoughts on the Astra are also welcome! -
Cost of Metallic Paint 28 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Im looking at possibly changing the Jag for a BMW 5 series and on the American BMW website the amount you get included at 'no cost' is quite surprising. No cost options for automatic transmission and metalic paint are common. I realise the USA is a differnt market and auto over there is pretty much standard but it still makes me think we get a a raw deal in the UK. -
Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - Diesel Auto: Cheapest price ? 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi there, I am currently thinking about changing my car and the new Galaxy looks very good. What is the lowest sort of figure that I'm likely to pay for a new model Diesel Automatic? Pref something with parking sensors (maybe Zetec or above). Any suggestions would be welcome. Alternatively, are the prices likely to depreciate more than other cars in six months or so? Many thanks, Nigel. -
Law relating to stopping not parking 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
What is the law relating to stopping (engine running) a car on a one track public road to open and shut a farmers gate that crosses the public road? We had a handbrake failure on a car that was stationary, engine running, in neutral (automatic car), hand brake fully applied on a hill, while the driver shut the gate behind him. The car rolled back as the driver finished shutting the gate and caused a lot of damage. Do we have a case is this particular situation? -

Hi Guys, I have just bought a Rover 45 2.0 24V V6 automatic, it has a good service history and the cam belt was changed a few thousand miles ago and all seems to be in good working order. I was wondering if there is any known faults that I should keep an eye out for or any other suggestions from experience. -
